Chapter 9 Can't Justify Herself

Ever since Penelope returned to her ward, she had been having a bad feeling. She felt that something bad was about to happen.

But Zackary didn't come to give her a hard time. She received a call from the hospital just now, saying that matched hematopoietic stem cells for Ethan had been found.

Serve thalassemia could be cured with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. But Ethan's blood type was too special. The only hope was the umbilical cord blood of her second child. Only with that could Ethan be saved.

Fate was fair. She lost her daughter but Ethan could be saved.

But she needed 160 thousand dollars for the surgery. She had to collect enough money before she died.

When she was worried about how to collect the money, her phone suddenly rang.

It was her biological mother, Myra Evans.

"Penelope, it was my fault before. I shouldn't have rejected helping Ethan. He's my grandson anyway. His illness is serious, but we can't give up. Your dad and I talked about that. We sold the house in our hometown and got more than 160 thousand dollars. The money is enough to treat Ethan.

"The money is on my band card. I'm in Lola's ward now. Come to get the card."

"Thanks, Mom." Penelope was full of gratitude. She thanked Myra sincerely.

She was Myra's biological daughter, but Myra loved Lola more. She didn't know why. For example, she and Lola were both in the hospital, but Myra chose to visit Lola instead of her.

However, she didn't care about these things. Since Myra was willing to sell the house so as to collect money for Ethan's surgery, it meant that Myra still cared about her. She should feel satisfied.

More than 160 thousand dollars! The money was enough for Ethan to recover.

She could rest in peace even if she died now.

Penelope happily got out of bed and walked to Lola's ward.

She hated seeing Lola's face, but for Ethan and the money, she could endure it.

As soon as she arrived at Lola's ward, she was pulled in by Myra.

A dense smell of blood appeared. Penelope immediately turned her head and saw Chelsea lying in the blood motionlessly.

Penelope didn't like Lola, but she liked Chelsea. Chelsea was her favorite female star. Her eyes turned red when she saw her idol lying there in blood.

"Mom, why is Chelsea injured? She's so seriously injured. Why didn't you call the doctor?"

"Zackary, come upstairs quickly with Dad. Penelope killed my mom."

The sound of Lola making a call appeared. Penelope was shocked to hear that. In an instant, many thoughts flashed in her mind.

Finally, she drew the conclusion that Lola hurt Chelsea and wanted her to be the scapegoat. This was the biggest possibility!

Penelope wouldn't stay there and let them frame her without doing anything. She tried hard to wave Myra's hands off and was about to rush out.

Myra used to work on a construction site when she was young. Penelope was no match for her in terms of strength.

Finally, Myra let go of her, but the door was pushed open suddenly by Dalton. Then Zackary also followed in.

When they saw Chelsea lying in the blood without moving, both Dalton and Zackary had their eyes turned red.

"Chelsea!"

"Chelsea!"

"Dad, Zackary, you are finally here. Penelope wants to kill me. Mom tried hard to stop her, but she killed Mom! I'm injured. I can't even move. I couldn't save Mom!" Lola cried hard. She was all tears. "I wish I was the one who died! Penelope, my mother was such a good person. What mistake did she make? Why did you have to kill her?"

Before Penelope could justify herself, Dalton had fiercely strangled her neck.
