Chapter 376 The Pain of Heartbreak, Just Like This
"Kemp, it's all in the past."
Kemp thought that after all the foolish things he had done, Penelope would hate him to the bone. However, to his surprise, she just gave a faint smile and said something in a light and breezy manner.
Seeing him staring at her blankly, Penelope repeated her words again, "Kemp, it's all in the past."
"You would hurt me and Ethan, just because, you forgot us, I don't blame you. Really, I don't blame you."
Penelope was not a saint or a pure lotus, but she really couldn't bring herself to hate Kemp, with whom she had once shared life and death.
The memories of those four years were too profound, too vividly painted, that even if she hated herself, she couldn't bring herself to hate him.
More importantly, he didn't intentionally hurt her, he just forgot about her.
She could feel it, after being hit by the car this time, she really couldn't hold on much longer.
As one was nearing death, why should they hold onto such deep resentment? Why should they continue to blame him?
"Kemp, I really don't blame you! I know it wasn't intentional, don't be upset."
Penelope laughed, her eyes crinkling with joy as she looked at the man sitting by the bed. She couldn't help but recall the kindness he had shown her and Ethan during those four years in the dungeon.
She had protected him, and he had risked his life multiple times to protect her and Ethan. How could she bear to blame such a good man like Kemp!
Kemp's heart had been completely consumed by guilt and pain.
He was heartbroken and regretted his past actions.
No matter what, he could not forgive himself.
If Penelope had blamed him, hated him, resented him, he might have felt a bit better. But now, she was laughing so freely, saying she didn't blame him anymore, which was even more heartbreaking for him.
His Penny, the least vengeful, the best, such a kind and open-minded girl, how did she get this damn disease!
What kind of hole had been drilled into his head that he would, time and time again, hurt her without any scruples!
Kemp was in excruciating pain, just as he was about to take a deep breath and say something to Penelope, his cell phone began to ring urgently.
Pennie.
Looking at the two large characters jumping on the phone screen, Kemp's brow couldn't help but furrow. His handsome face was even more cold and ruthless, as if covered in a frost that allowed no life to grow.
He stared at the phone screen for several seconds before finally pressing the answer button.
Before he could speak, Pennie's obviously coquettish voice came from the phone, "Kemp, why didn't you come to see me today? Kemp, I miss you so much."
Listening to Pennie's affected voice, Kemp felt so nauseated that he wanted to vomit.
Seeing Kemp silent, Pennie didn't feel any sense of being disliked. She continued to act coquettishly, "Kempe, it hurts so much. You don't know, my wound has opened again, and a lot of blood has been shed. This feeling, it's really hard to bear."
"Kemp, I don't want to always be staring at the caregiver. Tonight, can you come and keep me company?"
After a pause, Pennie ventured to speak, "Kemp, last night, you said, you would teach Penelope a lesson, to avenge our child."
Actually, what Pennie really wanted to know when she made this call, was how Kemp had been tormenting Penelope.
Although she had luckily survived and was not critically injured, being brutally hit by Zackary had still left her with a huge psychological trauma.
Especially when she thought about how Zackary had treated her, all just to take revenge on her most hated Penelope, she was seething with anger. She couldn't wait to know about Penelope's miserable condition.
How ruthless Kemp was, she knew all too well. Even without receiving the news of Penelope being tortured to the point of wishing for death, she could guess that Penelope must have had a terrible night the previous evening.
Having received no response from Kemp for a long time, Pennie couldn't help but feel anxious, "Kemp, did you or did you not teach Penelope a lesson? Kemp, our child died so tragically, he was literally crushed and killed by Penelope, this is the nightmare of my life. Kemp, if we can't avenge our child, I will never be able to forgive myself!"
"Penny, I caught Penelope on the seaside cliff yesterday."
Upon hearing Kemp's words, Pennie was immediately delighted. She had contacted Lola today, who was at the film set. She said that Penelope hadn't been to the film set at all today.
Could it be that Penelope has already been brutally killed by Kemp?!
With that thought, Pennie was so delighted that she almost burst out laughing.
However, when she thought about her still on the phone with Kemp, she suppressed her joy and tried to speak in a steady voice, "What happened next?"
"I stuffed a live fish into her mouth, the food was rotten and stinking."
Pennie was overjoyed. The thought of Penelope painfully stuffed with something, unable to live or die, made her want to laugh out loud three times.
She knew, this was definitely not the worst, there must be worse to come.
She was about to press further when Kemp's emotionless voice once again reached her ears.
"I did, I hit her with my car and sent her flying!"
"What?!"
Pennie tried hard to maintain a calm demeanor, but she couldn't control the joy in her voice. She almost blurted out eagerly, "What about Penelope now? Is she alive or dead?"
"She was in the hospital."
Pennie furrowed her brow, she didn't know why Penelope was able to be sent to the hospital later. However, thinking about the suffering she had endured, she still felt a sense of exhilaration in her heart.
That was awesome!
Given Penelope's frail condition, I'm afraid, even if she was later luckily taken to the hospital, she would have ended up disabled if not dead!
"Kemp, thank you! Thank you for avenging me and our child! Kemp, I love you!"
Love?
Kemp sneered inwardly, his face as cold and exquisite as chilled jade, devoid of any semblance of life.
But Pennie, I, Kemp, didn't love you.
Kemp didn't utter these words, so Pennie was able to hang up the phone with a heart full of joy.
The thought of Pennie impersonating his Penny, repeatedly misleading him, and deliberately making him hurt Penelope, made him wish he could rush to her hospital room and tear her to pieces.
But, this was too cheap for her.
Killing a person is merely a nod of the head, but punishing the heart is truly exhilarating.
He wanted to break Pennie's heart.
During his time with Pennie, he had become all too familiar with her character - vain, hypocritical, and malicious.
She loved being the center of attention, shining brightly. Fine, he lifted her up to the clouds, and then, at the moment she was most joyful and carefree, he ruthlessly threw her down, letting her taste what true heartbreak was!
"Penny, I actually mistook Pennie for you..."
Kemp laughed self-deprecatingly and helplessly, "Penny, I'm hopelessly stupid!"
Actually, Penelope also thought that Kemp, who was being played around by Pennie at that time, was hopelessly stupid. However, he genuinely cared for Pennie at that time, and his protection for her was unstoppable.
"It's all in the past," Penelope said with a faint smile.
Kemp didn't want to continue saying things that upset Penelope either. He took the millet porridge that Jaxson had brought over, scooped a spoonful, gently blew it warm, and brought it to her lips.
"Penny, you've been lying down for so long, you must be hungry. Have some porridge."
Penelope wasn't just hungry, her stomach was indeed ravenously empty. She opened her mouth and swallowed the porridge from the spoon.
However, as soon as she swallowed the porridge, she couldn't help but recall the pungent smell of fish and the strong stench of decay.
In her throat, it felt as if something was piercing harshly, piercing all the way into her stomach, causing her stomach to churn uncontrollably.
She lunged to the side of the bed and began to vomit violently.
She had nothing in her stomach, so what she vomited could only be blood.
