Chapter 2 You Are So Shameless

Penelope's stomach ached more and more badly. She took a long breath and managed to continue.

"The truth is that Lola threatened me to leave you with my grandmother's life. She even brutally killed my grandmother. Lola is the one who did everything..."

Penelope's neck suddenly hurt.

Zackary clenched her neck with his big and strong hand. Penelope's words were choked off.

"Penelope, how dare you slander Lola? Four years ago, my legs were broken by someone you hired. If it hadn't been for Lola, I would be disabled now. Lola paid a lot to help me.

"But what about you? Penelope, what were you doing at that time? You were fooling around with Ralph!"

"I wasn't!"

Penelope shook her head hard. "Zack, there is nothing between me and Ralph. Lola framed me. And I didn't hire anyone to drive a car to break your legs. It was Lola..."

"Stop!" Zackary interrupted Penelope's words coldly. His delicate face was icy. "Penelope, I don't believe anything you say."

Penelope didn't continue explaining. Zackary didn't believe her. Penelope was just humiliating herself by arguing.

She pressed her stomach. The pain was killing her. Penelope said with difficulty, "Zack, I took Ethan to do an exam a few days ago. He is in a very bad condition. Can you lend me some money?"

"You reminded me that I forgot to pay you." Zackary raised a smile, but his eyes weren't smiling. Zackary looked cruel.

He let go of Penelope's neck, took 40 dollars out of his pocket, and threw them on Penelope's face. "20 dollars each time. You should be thankful."

Penelope was so sad that she felt her heart was broken. But she slowly picked up the 40 dollars from the ground.

Penelope looked so humble.

Penelope put the money into her purse. It was money, anyway. To humiliate Penelope, Zackary cut off almost all of her financial resources. Penelope had to accept his money to save Ethan.

After putting the money aside, Penelope said gingerly, "Zack, can you lend me 80 thousand dollars? I'll do my best to pay you back. Zack, please save Ethan!"

"Why would I save that bastard?" Zackary raised a cold smile, and there was a sharp look in his eyes. "Penelope, you killed my baby brutally. Why is Ralph's son still alive? I hope that bastard will die early. So, why would I save him?"

"No! Ethan isn't a bastard. I didn't kill our baby. Ethan is your son..."

"Shut up!" Zackary's last patience ran out. "Penelope, if you keep saying that bastard is my son, I won't mind killing him myself."

"I won't mind killing him myself...."

Hearing what Zackary said, Penelope suddenly lost all her strength to ask Zackary for money. He wouldn't lend her the money.

Penelope bit her lower lip hard and abandoned all her dignity.

"Zack, 40 dollars isn't enough. The cheapest girl in Lust Club can make 200 dollars each time. We did it twice tonight. You should give me 400 dollars at least."

Zackary let out a sneer.

A cold laugh came out of his thin lips. It was scary.

"Penelope, you are so shameless. Is this all for that bastard?"

After saying that, Zackary threw a pile of money on Penelope's face. He turned around and left without any hesitation.

The sharp edge of the money cut Penelope's face. Penelope couldn't feel any pain. She just thought, "400 dollars isn't enough for surgery. But it can afford a blood transfusion. Ethan can survive for more days. That's nice.

"As for my dignity...

"It's too luxurious for me. Ethan's life is more important."

Hearing the footsteps outside the door, Penelope thought Zackary changed his mind and came back. She rushed to the door and opened it.

It was Ethan standing at the top of the stairs, not Zackary.

Ethan stared at Zackary's back as Zackary left. His little face was covered with love and sadness.

Ethan grabbed a piece of paper in his hand. He opened his mouth silently. Penelope could tell that Ethan was saying, "Dad."

Seeing Penelope, Ethan hurriedly hid the paper behind his back. A pure smile was forced on his pale face. "Mom."

"Ethan, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I know you want a dad. But I..."

"Mom, I don't need a dad." Ethan hugged Penelope's arm gently. He was such a sweet kid, which made Penelope feel sorry for him.

"Mom, I only need you. You are the best mother in the world."

After saying that, Ethan suddenly froze. He fell into Penelope's arms motionlessly, which had happened a lot of times before.
