Chapter 375 Kemp, I would end myself

"At all costs, I wanted her to live! I wanted her to survive! To live a long life of a hundred years!"

Long, long after, Jaxson and the doctor heard Kemp's heart-wrenching scream.

The doctor heaved a heavy sigh. He too wished that all his patients could receive treatment and regain their health, but things didn't always go as planned.

After Penelope was pushed into the ward, Kemp stayed by her bedside without taking a single step away. He held her hand tightly, fearing that she might never wake up from her sleep.

Fortunately, she didn't sleep for long. By the evening, she finally slowly opened her eyes.

Seeing Penelope wake up, Kemp couldn't express how happy he was. He wanted to laugh, but he couldn't help his eyes welling up with tears.

At first, Penelope's vision was somewhat blurry. Gradually, she was able to clearly see Kemp's magnified handsome face in front of her.

On the cliff, the moment the car brutally crashed into her, her body hurt so much, so much that for a moment, she thought she was already dead.

But at that moment, looking at Kemp's face so close to hers, she understood, she was still alive.

And he said, only when she died, would she let Ethan go.

In an instant, Penelope's little face was filled with terror. She instinctively pulled her hand back, wanting to keep some distance from him.

Kemp clearly captured the fear in Penelope's eyes. Seeing her so afraid of him, his heart ached with each contraction.

"Sugar..."

"Where's Ethan?" Penelope struggled to get up, but now, she was in severe pain and couldn't move.

She could only watch him warily and cautiously. A thought crossed her mind, causing her to bite her lip hard. She spoke, word by word, "Mr. Hunter, I beg you, kill me and spare Ethan!"

Penelope had never harmed Pennie, she believed that in her life, she had been guiltless towards Pennie.

But she was too afraid that something would happen to Ethan, she didn't dare to provoke Kemp, she could only admit all her mistakes, only wishing to plead for a chance for Ethan to live.

"Mr. Hunter, I was wrong, I apologize to you! I let you down, I let Pennie down, I deserve to die, please spare Ethan's life, will you?"

Saying this, Penelope turned her face, attempting to find some weapon in the ward to end her own life.

Upon hearing Penelope's words, Kemp felt a pain in his heart so intense that he almost lost the ability to speak. Therefore, for a moment, he didn't say a word, but just stared at her unblinkingly with eyes filled with unbearable pain.

"Mr. Hunter, I truly realize my mistake. Could you please pass me the cup? I will end this myself. Can you spare Ethan?"

On the bedside table, there was a glass cup. As long as she smashed the cup, she could use the sharp fragments to slit her own throat.

Kemp was as still as a petrified rock, not moving at all, only the pain in his eyes, in an instant, flooded like a disaster.

Seeing that he had no intention of passing the cup to her, she couldn't help but feel a bit anxious. He was holding her left hand, but not her right hand, which had a needle in it.

She quickly extended her right hand, attempting to grab the cup herself.

She couldn't muster much strength, such an action was extremely challenging for her. Her little face had turned beet red, yet she still hadn't managed to grab the cup.

Noticing Penelope's movements, fearing that the syringe in her hand would draw blood, he quickly held down her right hand, preventing her from moving around recklessly.

Kemp didn't give her the cup, nor did he allow her to grab it herself. Penelope was extremely anxious.

She looked at him, her eyes filled with a clear plea, "Kemp, please, give me the cup."

"Penny!"

Kemp could no longer contain the pain in his heart, he tightened his grip and pulled her tightly into his arms.

Penny?

Penelope stiffened, a clear surprise painted on her small face. Hadn't he always called her "Pennie"? Why would he suddenly call her Penny?

Had he lost his mind? Or...

"Penny, I remembered! I remembered everything!"

Kemp held her even tighter, so tight, as if he wanted to meld her into his body.

"Pennie wasn't my Penny, you were my Penny! Penny, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."

"I knew, I was blind, I mistook the wrong person, I made a mistake, I was unforgivable, Penny, I had no right to ask for your forgiveness, I was just begging you, to give me a chance to take care of and protect you and Ethan."

Cared for, protected her and Ethan...

After saying this, Kemp felt increasingly upset. Even if he spent the strength of several lifetimes trying to protect her, how many more days could she have in her current state!

The more he thought, the more fear and regret filled his heart, along with an endless desolation. In an instant, it swallowed his entire heart, making him wish he could pick up a knife and stab himself a thousand times over.

"Penny, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I wronged you and Ethan."

"Kemp, how is Ethan now?" Penelope looked at him steadily, speaking softly.

She really hadn't expected that Kemp would suddenly remember everything.

Before, Penelope had really, really hoped that he would remember everything quickly, but perhaps she had hoped for too long and the pain he had inflicted on her was too much. When she saw him regain his memory, there was surprisingly little fluctuation in her heart.

"Ethan was fine, his fever had subsided, and he would be able to leave the hospital in a few days."

Upon hearing Kemp say that Ethan was fine, Penelope's heart instantly fell back into place.

"It's good that Ethan was okay."

Penelope spoke softly, and after her words, a prolonged silence fell between the two.

Once in the dungeon, Penelope had endless words for Kemp.

Back then, she was brimming with youth and vitality, and he, he was the best listener. It seemed as if no amount of words spoken to him would ever be enough.

But now, she suddenly didn't know what to say to him.

In fact, if she really thought about it, it had only been half a year since she came out of the dungeon. Yet, she felt as if she had lived several lifetimes.

"Penny, I'm sorry."

Kemp caressed Penelope's damaged left hand, the more he looked at the ugly wound at the break of her little finger, the more distressed he felt inside.

He clenched her small hand, gently placing it on his own heart, "Penny, I was deceived by Pennie, I hurt you over and over again, even..."

It even left her with a lifelong disability.

Kemp's throat choked up, and he just couldn't get the words out.

When he was in the dungeon, he knew that his Penny, despite being in a desperate situation and suffering greatly, was actually a little girl who loved beauty.

Penny, who loved beauty so much, lost a little finger because of him, leaving such an ugly wound. How upset she must have been!

He pressed hard on his chest, as if a thousand arrows had pierced his heart. It was nothing less than that.

Kemp took a deep breath, his voice trembling as he began to speak, "Penny, I'm sorry, I misunderstood you, I was foolish, I was blind, I deserve to die!"

"Penny, I know, I am truly unforgivable, I deserve to die! I have no face to ask for your forgiveness, all I ask is for you to give me a chance to make it up to you and Ethan, okay?"
