Chapter 113 Bringing Back Mr. Hilliard's Ashes
"Penelope, what did you say?! Say it to me again?!"
Ignoring the bloodthirsty gleam in Zackary's eyes, Penelope's laughter became even more enchanting, enough to overthrow cities and kingdoms.
"I said, I, Penelope, would rather bear a child for a pig, or for a beggar on the street, than ever bear another child for you, Zackary!"
A sudden pain shot through her body, and Penelope was roughly pinned to the bed by Zackary.
He stared at her intently, the hatred and violence in his eyes instantly transforming into countless ferocious beasts, baring their teeth and claws, as if they were about to tear Penelope into countless pieces the next second.
Yes, she never wanted to bear a child for him, Zackary. Four years ago, she was pregnant with his child, but she killed it with her own hands. He could never forget it. The blood of his child, mixed with his own, rolled down from his forehead, drop by drop, taking away all the warmth in his heart.
A while ago, she got pregnant again, but she didn't care about the child at all. She even recklessly hurt Lola while pregnant, causing the death of the unborn child!
"Ha!"
Just when Penelope thought he was going to squeeze her to death, he suddenly curled his lips in a mocking smile, and a cold laughter spilled from the corner of his mouth.
"Penelope, who did you think you were!"
"You didn't want to have children for me, Zackary, would I still force you to!"
"Penelope, you were simply not worthy of bearing my child, Zackary!"
"If I, Zackary, could have a child in this life, it could only be born by Lola!"
Zackary pulled out a stack of money from his wallet and harshly threw it in Penelope's face.
"Don't forget to buy the morning-after pill!"
Zackary had this knack. He put his wallet back into his pocket unhurriedly and calmly. Even when he was doing the most ruthless and heartless actions, he could still carry an air of superiority that was above others.
He rose, looking down at Penelope from a superior position. On his handsome face, which had been extraordinarily favored by the Creator, there was a chilling contempt and coldness.
"Penelope, don't even think about playing any tricks on me! If I find out that you didn't buy the medicine, or, that you're carrying Zackary's child... I promise, I will personally kill that child!"
Without a shred of reluctance, Zackary turned around, slammed the door shut with a bang, and left.
"Ha!"
Penelope was in so much pain that she couldn't move, she could only manage a low laugh.
Zackary really worried for nothing. With her frail body, she wouldn't have been able to conceive his child even without taking the morning-after pill.
When he brutally killed the child in her womb, she had forever lost the qualification to become a mother again.
Banknotes scattered across Penelope's face, she was too lazy to remove them, just lying stiffly on the bed, letting the overwhelming pain completely engulf her, and finally, everything went dark...
As soon as he stepped out of the small apartment, Zackary took out the memory card from his pocket.
Thinking of the photos stored on this memory card, he involuntarily strengthened his grip, forcefully snapping the memory card in half.
It was not until the memory card was abused to the point of no repair that Zackary threw it into the trash can downstairs.
He took out his phone and dialed his special assistant Samuel's number.
"Check for four people for me!"
"I wanted them... to disappear forever!"
When Penelope woke up, it was already the next morning.
Her stomach still hurt terribly, she didn't want to move, but thinking about the contract she had to sign today, she still forced herself to get up from the bed.
Her phone was destroyed by those four men yesterday. She was afraid that Lyman would wake up and not be able to reach her if he tried to call. After eating something quickly, she went to the mall to buy a new phone and also took the opportunity to replace her SIM card.
She had just inserted the SIM card into her phone when its ringtone began to sound urgently.
For some unknown reason, as she looked at the unfamiliar phone number flashing on her mobile screen, Penelope suddenly had a very bad feeling.
Her fingertips trembled uncontrollably. She swiped the screen several times before she finally answered the phone.
"Hello, may I ask who you were?"
"Hello Ms. Sullivan, I was Mr. Hilliard's special assistant, Justin."
Although Penelope didn't have Justin's phone number, she had met him and spoken to him before. This was indeed Justin's voice.
"Nietzsche, how is Mr. Hilliard's condition now? Has he woken up? There are many bodyguards outside the hospital, I can't get in. Nietzsche, could you please help me, let me go to the ward to see Mr. Hilliard?"
"Ms. Sullivan, Mr. Hilliard..."
Justin's voice, for a moment, was noticeably choked up, intensifying the bad premonition in Penelope's heart. She was so nervous that she didn't dare to take a breath, fearing that Justin would say something she couldn't accept next.
"Mr. Hilliard's condition suddenly worsened in the early hours of this morning, and despite attempts to save him, he passed away."
"Ms. Sullivan, please accept my condolences. Before Mr. Hilliard passed away, he woke up once and said that he didn't want you to be sad for him. He wanted you to be okay."
"What?!"
Penelope's hand was shaking so much that she could barely hold her phone, "What are you saying, Nate? Didn't Mr. Hilliard already out of danger? How could his condition suddenly worsen?!"
"Ms. Sullivan, please accept my condolences. This afternoon, I will follow Mr. Hilliard's last wishes and bring his ashes to you," Justin's voice choked, as if he was afraid he would burst into tears. After saying this, he hastily hung up the phone.
Even when her phone screen had completely turned black, Penelope still couldn't accept the news that Justin had told her.
Such a wonderful Lyman, as if just a second ago, he was still looking at her, smiling brilliantly, how could he just be gone like that?
However, Justin was Lyman's most capable assistant, they were as close as brothers, it was impossible for Justin to deceive her.
But even so, she was still unwilling to believe that Lyman was just gone like that.
Yes, the hospital!
Lyman must still be lying in the hospital ward now. As long as she went there and saw him in the flesh, she would understand that this might just be a prank!
With this in mind, Penelope didn't dare to delay. She quickly hailed a taxi and rushed to the private hospital where Lyman was.
Penelope thought, if the bodyguard still refused to let her in, she would call Justin to come down and get her.
When she reached the entrance of the hospital, she noticed that the bodyguards who had always been stationed there were no longer present.
Penelope's heart pounded harder than ever. She had despised those bodyguards for blocking her from seeing Lyman before, but now, not seeing them, she was even more terrified.
She sprinted all the way, rushing towards the ward where Lyman was.
The bodyguards who had been guarding outside the ward had already withdrawn, leaving only two nurses tidying up the bedding on the hospital bed.
Looking at the empty hospital bed, Penelope was so distressed that she could hardly breathe, but she still held onto the last shred of hope.
"Doctor, where is the patient who was staying in this room? Yes, his name is Lyman, he had a car accident, he had been staying in this room, why isn't he here now? Did he change rooms, or, was he transferred to another hospital?"
