Chapter 236 Exchanging Ethan's Life for Mr. Zackary's Life!
Hearing this unfamiliar male voice, Penelope's heart immediately leapt into her throat, "Don't hurt Ethan!"
"Where were you and Ethan right now? What on earth did you want to do?!"
Ethan had a weak stomach and was prone to indigestion. After dinner, the nanny would usually take him to the small square outside Xavier's house to play for a while. This man, he must have snatched Ethan from the small square!
The silence on the other end of the phone heightened Penelope's anxiety. She gripped her cell phone tightly, her voice trembling as she spoke, "Please, don't hurt Ethan! I'll do anything you want, as long as you don't harm him!"
The last time at the edge of Mount South cliff, the scene where Ethan was brutally thrown off started to replay in Penelope's mind. The pain in her heart was as if she was being tortured by a blunt knife. She clutched her chest tightly, but the pain, accompanied by a bone-chilling panic, only intensified.
"Speak up! What on earth do you want to do?! What have you done to my Ethan?!"
Finally, Penelope heard the voice of the man on the other end of the phone again, who was Simon, "Penelope, do you still remember Damian?! My elder brother Damian!"
"Do you know how my elder brother died? My elder brother was brutally run over by people sent by Zackary! I'm going to kill Zackary, to avenge my elder brother!"
"Have Zackary meet me at Mount South Cliff, or I'll tear that little brat apart right now!"
"I knew Damian!" Penelope blurted out hastily, "It wasn't Zackary who killed him! The person who killed him was..."
"Penelope, Zackary must die! If you want that brat to live, let Zackary die!" Simon coldly cut off Penelope's words, "I want to use Zackary's blood to commemorate my elder brother's spirit!"
"Penelope, I don't have much patience. If Zackary doesn't show up in front of me within an hour, you better be ready to collect his body! Last time, that little brat was lucky to survive. This time, I'm throwing him off a cliff, and I don't believe he'll be so lucky again!"
After saying this, Simon immediately hung up the phone.
Penelope stared blankly at the gradually darkening phone screen, her body shivering with cold. She didn't want anything to happen to her Ethan, but to exchange Zackary's life for Ethan's...
Compared to Ethan, Zackary wouldn't even abandon Lola. How could he possibly risk everything to save her Ethan!
After a brief moment of shock, she quickly redialed Simon's number. She was willing to give her life to him, only hoping that her Ethan could be safe and worry-free.
However, Simon didn't answer the phone.
"Penelope, was Ethan kidnapped?"
Zackary was very close to Penelope, and coupled with Simon's loud voice, he could hear his voice clearly.
He tightly gripped Penelope's trembling little hand, softly comforting her, "Penelope, don't be afraid, I won't let them hurt our Ethan!"
"Penelope, wait for me here, I'm going to bring our Ethan back right now!"
Zackary let go of Penelope's hand, his long legs striding out, he dashed out of the box like a gust of wind.
Leaving his warm large hand, Penelope's small hand quickly turned cold again.
She stared blankly at her empty palm, Zackary, he was actually going to bring Ethan back!
Didn't he worry that he might die?!
She didn't want anything to happen to Ethan, but she also didn't want him to be okay.
Penelope wiped away the moisture at the corner of her eyes forcefully, disregarding the lingering pain in her ankle, and went after Zackary.
She couldn't catch up with Zackary. By the time she got to the underground garage, Zackary's Koenigsegg had already left.
I wanted to honor the spirit of my elder brother with Zackary's blood!
Simon's voice, like a curse, echoed repeatedly in Penelope's ears, making her feel so suffocated that she could hardly breathe. She didn't dare to delay, rushed to the entrance of Lust Club, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for Mount South.
Penelope didn't know why Simon was convinced that Zackary had killed Damian, but one thing was crystal clear in her heart.
Zackary heard what Simon said. His departure meant risking his life for Ethan's safety and peace.
He was willing, for Ethan, to disregard life and death.
Penelope's vision blurred for a moment, and she didn't quite catch what the enthusiastic driver had said to her. There was only one thought in her mind.
Zackary and Ethan both couldn't be in trouble.
Ethan, it was her life.
In fact, having loved, having hated, Zackary was also her destiny!
The night wind was piercingly cold, cutting to the bone. Penelope had climbed from the mountainside to the edge of the cliff, her entire body chilled through by the cool breeze.
Recently, Sea City had been developing Mount South as a tourist attraction. On the edge of the cliff, vintage street lamps had also been installed, creating a brilliant display of lights.
Seeing Ethan pinned at the edge of the cliff, tears silently rolled down Penelope's cheeks.
Several of Simon's brothers, holding steel knives in their hands, stood menacingly to one side, looking very formidable.
Zackary hadn't been up for long either. His short hair was tousled by the night wind, but it did nothing to diminish the noble air about him.
He looked at Simon on the edge of the cliff with cold and stern eyes. The powerful aura emanating from him was chilling.
"Let go of Ethan!"
"Mr. Zackary, do you think we're fools? Let go of this brat, how can you just go die obediently?!"
"We heard, this little brat, is your own flesh and blood, Mr. Zackary! Even if you are reluctant to exchange your life for this little brat, killing him would at least give my big brother some peace!"
Ethan lay quietly on the edge of the cliff. He didn't struggle, nor did he cry out loud. After carefully glancing at Zackary, he gently lowered his head.
He wanted a father, he also loved his father, but that night, he held no expectations for his father.
No matter how much he loved his father, he could not forget the fact that his father had ruthlessly abandoned him in this place.
Dad would abandon him once, he would, abandon him a second time.
The light in Ethan's eyes dimmed even more, he spoke softly, "Dad, Mom, you guys go back. Ethan is okay."
He voluntarily refused his father's help, so that, after being thrown off the cliff, he would indeed be in pain, but he wouldn't have to endure the despair of being abandoned by his father again.
After a moment of silence, Ethan spoke softly again, "Dad, could you be nicer to mom in the future? And mom, could you give dad another chance? As long as you both are good to each other, Ethan will be very happy."
"Dad, Ethan doesn't blame you. Ethan, love you."
Ethan didn't want to cry, he wanted to be a strong little man. However, thinking about the future, realizing he would never be able to see his mom and dad again, he couldn't help but let his tears roll down his cheeks.
Just when he thought his father would abandon him coldly and decisively like the last time, Zackary's cool but firm voice suddenly rang out on the edge of the cliff.
"Speak! How do you want me to die?!"
