Chapter 171 Penelope and Mr. Murray's Blind Date
Pennie's heart suddenly trembled, she forced herself to calm down, "Kemp, what do you mean by that? What truth?"
"Isn't the truth that Penelope wanted to use this child to get close to you, and she even wanted to instigate this child to harm me?!"
"Penny, did that cripple really push you?!" Kemp retorted, his gaze on Pennie inscrutable.
Pennie had hurt people, never feeling a shred of guilt, but when questioned by Kemp in such a cold tone, she inexplicably felt a bit uneasy.
"Of course! How could I possibly fall for no reason if Ethan hadn't pushed me! But, Kemp, you really shouldn't hold it against him anymore, no matter how Penelope is teaching him to harm me, he's just a child!"
Kemp's memory was really, really good. He only listened to that recording once, and he was already able to repeat it word for word.
"Ethan, Kemp despised you, and he despised your mother Penelope even more."
"Do you know why he despised your mother Penelope so much? Because Penelope was lowly, shameless, promiscuous, and flirtatious. Even a glance from Kemp at her was enough to make him feel disgusted!"
Hearing Kemp utter these words in a tone without the slightest fluctuation, Pennie's face changed drastically.
She opened her mouth, wanting to defend herself, but before she could speak, she heard Kemp's cold voice again, "Penny, I watched the video, you indeed fell flat on the ground!"
Pennie's face turned even more colorful. She hadn't expected that the place where Kemp parked was so hidden, yet her actions could still be captured by the camera!
Pennie didn't want Kemp to think she was a vicious woman, she hastily tried to redeem herself.
She explained to Kemp almost frantically, "Kemp, it's not like that! It's not like that! You misunderstood me! It was the shoes I was wearing, the heels were too high, I accidentally twisted my ankle, I thought... I thought it was Ethan who pushed me! Kemp, listen to me, I really didn't mean to frame Ethan and Penelope on purpose!"
"I really didn't know he didn't push me! I fell so hard, I was completely dazed!"
Kemp curled his lips in mockery, his dark eyes instantly shrouded in profound fatigue.
If Pennie had admitted this matter honestly, his feelings for her might not have been so bad. But now that things had come to this point and she was still desperately denying it, he just felt disgusted.
He repeatedly said that Penelope was dirty, that she disgusted him. In fact, he was never really disgusted by Penelope.
On the contrary, he repeatedly lost control for her.
He found it incredibly hilarious that the person who had truly disgusted him turned out to be the girl he had loved for so many years.
He wanted to hold Penny's hand and spend the rest of his life with her.
Even though Pennie had a history of framing Penelope, he still chose to believe her without hesitation. It wasn't that he was easily deceived, but because he loved her, was willing to spoil her, and trusted her.
But his trust in her, in the end, turned into the most ridiculous joke!
"Kemp, do you believe me or not? I've realized my mistakes about what happened before, I've paid the price, I was in unbearable pain, how could I possibly frame others again! Kemp, I am now, sincerely want to make amends to Penelope!"
Watching Pennie in front of him, her face streaked with tears, Kemp felt increasingly weary.
Incredibly, he didn't even want to give a hug to the girl he had deeply loved for many years.
"Penny, you were my wife, I promised to provide for you all your life, to ensure you lived in wealth and splendor, but beyond that, I couldn't guarantee anything else!"
Kemp coolly and indifferently pried Pennie's hand off, he turned around, walking towards the outside of the ward without a hint of reluctance.
"Kemp!"
Pennie frantically tried to grab Kemp back, but she couldn't see. In her panic, she hurriedly got out of bed and fell straight onto the floor, her head hitting the bedside table hard. She was unspeakably embarrassed.
She thought, given how badly she had been hurt, Kemp would at least come back to comfort her.
But he, did not look back.
Feeling the intense pain radiating from her forehead and the boundless darkness around her, Pennie's face twisted in hatred.
Penelope, did you think that by tarnishing my good image in Kemp's mind, you could defeat me, Pennie, and snatch Kemp away from me?!
Penelope, you were dreaming!
In our competition, the person who had the last laugh could only be me, Pennie!
And you, you could only plummet into the endless hell, utterly disheveled, never able to turn things around!
Penelope was going on a blind date tonight.
After picking up Ethan from kindergarten, she directly sent him to Xavier's place.
Xavier's residence was across the street from the small apartment Penelope was renting.
He was eager to teach Ethan medical skills, asking Penelope to send Ethan to him after school, or he would send someone to pick Ethan up.
Ethan was particularly interested in medicine. Penelope didn't want him to be too tired, but seeing his eagerness to learn, she still chose to fully support him.
Moreover, Ethan was studying medicine with Xavier, she had a lot of time, she could work hard and earn money.
When she picked up Ethan today, the kindergarten teacher kept apologizing to her.
The kindergarten was crowded with children, with three teachers taking care of nearly thirty children. Sometimes, they indeed couldn't keep up with all of them. Moreover, Ethan was not like other children who would cry for a long time after being hit. He didn't make a sound when he was beaten and deliberately hid his wounds. Even if the teachers noticed the scratches on his face, they didn't intentionally investigate.
Penelope didn't want to blame the teachers either. They promised to take more care of Ethan in the future. For her, that was enough.
Penelope had no interest in courting Xavier's grandson, so she didn't bother to dress up that night. She went there just to clear the air.
Xavier was so good that his grandson wouldn't be too bad either. The two of them cleared the air to avoid any future awkwardness when they met.
Penelope simply threw on a white dress and a beige coat, but even in her casual attire and without any makeup, her face alone was still as beautiful as a painting.
Xavier had already reserved a private room for them at Delight Restaurant in advance.
When Penelope went to the box, Xavier's grandson had not yet arrived.
The food hadn't been served yet, only a pot of warm boiled water was brought by the waiter.
Penelope was terribly thirsty, so she poured herself a glass of water. She browsed the news while waiting for the arrival of her grandson, Xavier.
The environment of the VIP private room in Delight Restaurant was exceptionally good. Its decor was on par with top-tier guest rooms, exuding an antique charm and grandeur, yet it was also elegantly refined.
Moreover, the privacy of this private room was particularly good. Once the door was closed, it almost isolated the noise from the outside world. It seemed as if her world only consisted of this pot of clear water with a faint fragrance.
Penelope had waited for nearly half an hour, but Xavier's grandson still hadn't come.
She was just about to call Xavier to ask if something had happened to his grandson and if he wouldn't be coming over tonight, when the door to the private room was suddenly pushed open.
The person who walked in was unexpectedly Jett, the one who had framed her into being kept by someone with heavy tastes!
