Chapter 122 Destroying Penelope's Last Thought

Seeing a man viciously spit on a piece of Ethan's clothing, Penelope abruptly rose from the ground. Like a small animal cornered, she fiercely pushed the man, causing him to stagger.

"Get out! Get out of here! I won't allow you to continue destroying Ethan and Corona's things!"

Penelope pushed the men who were ravaging Ethan and Corona's relics like a madwoman, but her frail body was no match for these tall and burly men.

Soon, she was rudely pushed to the ground, in a state of disarray.

The churning pain in my stomach gradually became less distinct, but in my heart, it felt as if more and more knives were being plunged in.

Every pore on Penelope's body was trembling with pain.

She bit her lip hard, trying to get up from the ground. Before she could stand up, Lola stepped forward and ruthlessly stomped on her hand that was pressed against the ground.

"Penelope, how does it feel? Is it exceptionally exhilarating?"

The corners of Lola's lips curled up in a malicious arc. Seeing Kemp approaching, she reluctantly removed her foot from Penelope's hand.

She pointed at Penelope indignantly, "Penelope, Penny grew up with us. How vicious must you be to harm our best friend Penny like this?!"

"Penny's child is dead, she can never be a mother again! Are you satisfied with how badly you've hurt Penny?! Penelope, how could I, Lola, have such a heartless sister like you!"

"Lola, you don't have to pretend in front of me! You think I don't know about the good things Pennie has done?!" Penelope glared at Lola with hatred, her words dripping with bitterness, "Lola, I won't let you off! You've hurt me time and time again, hurting the people I care about the most. If I, Penelope, am to go to hell, I'll definitely drag you down with me!"

"Penelope, you really are incorrigible!" Kemp, seeing Penelope still daring to talk back to Lola, his handsome face with soft contours, became even more terrifyingly cold.

"Unrepentant even in death? Huh!"

Penelope laughed bleakly, "You all say that I, Penelope, am unrepentant till death. But what have I done wrong? What should I regret?!"

"Yes, I regretted it! I loved the wrong person, I regretted it! I mistook the friend, I regretted it too!"

"Kemp, you ceased to be my friend long ago. Kemp, you are nothing but a devil blinded by lard!"

"Penelope, what did you say?!" Kemp dangerously narrowed his eyes, a cold glint shooting from him like a sharp arrow, "Penelope, say it to me again?!"

"Kemp, I hardly recognized you."

Penelope didn't want to cry, she really didn't want to shed tears in front of these people who had bullied her time and time again.

One could imagine, in the dungeon, during the most desperate times, the days she spent with Kemp and Ethan, depending on each other for survival. Tears, unknowingly, blurred her vision.

She vaguely remembered the way Kemp used to laugh.

The breeze was gentle and warm, just like spring.

But now, Kemp, who had once warmed her, was long dead.

Kemp's men were still continuing to destroy Ethan and Corona's graveyard. The fragments of Ethan's clothes had already been burned to ashes by those people with lighters, and Corona's blood-stained boots were not spared either.

Penelope knew, no matter how much resentment and unwillingness she had in her heart, she could no longer take back what belonged to Ethan and Corona.

The relics turned to ashes, time could not be reversed, how could she possibly preserve them intact!

Through her tear-blurred eyes, Penelope seemed to see Kemp in the dungeon.

That was just a few days after Ethan was born, he was crying incessantly. She was in severe pain and was somewhat annoyed by Ethan's mischief.

She didn't want to soothe Ethan, it was Kemp, who held Ethan tightly in his arms.

Soothed gently over and over again.

He said, "Ethan, you need to grow up quickly, become a towering man, and together we will protect your mother."

Ethan, your mother and I both loved you very much.

The past became a lament. Kemp did not accompany Ethan as he grew up, nor did he properly protect Ethan's mother.

He said he loved Ethan, but now, he cruelly ordered even Ethan's tomb to be destroyed, denying him peace even in death.

"Kemp, you will regret this!"

Penelope pushed hard against the ground, rising to her feet. She didn't know if it was because of pain or hatred, but her body kept shaking uncontrollably.

There were several times when she almost fell to the ground, but she still forced herself to keep her back straight.

"Kemp, you said that Ethan and I were the people you cared about most in this world."

"We were not related by blood, but we were more than family."

"But, you destroyed Ethan's tomb, you pushed me into a corner time and time again!"

"Kemp, I hated you, yet I also felt pity for you."

"You forgot about us, no matter how you treated us, you probably felt relieved! But what about when you remember? I hope by then, you can feel as relieved as you do now!"

"Kemp, I will never forgive you, and Ethan will never forgive you either! Time can't be turned back, and if one day you regret, it will be too late!"

Because, by that time, Ethan was long gone, and she... she was gone too.

Sometimes, she particularly hoped that Kemp could remember their past, but now, she actually hoped that he would never remember it in his lifetime.

Even if she hated the devil that had taken over his body, she still cared about Kemp, the one she had shared life and death with.

She feared that by the time he remembered, in the vast world, the people he cared about the most were already gone, he would be heartbroken.

"Penelope, you vile woman, what tricks are you up to now?!" Kemp looked into Penelope's eyes, filled with disgust.

"I have no regrets! The only thing I regret is that I actually considered supporting a woman as venomous as you, and even gave you the chance to hurt Penny!"

"Penelope, if I had known you would hurt Penny like this, I would have killed you the first time you appeared before me!"

"Penelope, count your blessings!" Lola never missed an opportunity to add fuel to the fire, "You killed Penny's living child, now Mr. Hunter has only desecrated your child's grave, you should be grateful!"

"Lola, shut up!" I told her.

Penelope was filled with hatred, wishing she had a bottle of sulfuric acid in her hands. If she did, she would have undoubtedly thrown it on Lola's face without hesitation, revealing her true, hideous form!

Lola didn't speak immediately, she just raised her eyes to stare at the tightly clenched hand of Penelope.

In her hand, she held a piece of Ethan's blood-stained clothing, and a button from Corona's shoe.

She wanted to destroy the last bit of Penelope's thoughts.

Lola turned around, feigning kindness as she asked Kemp, "Mr. Hunter, Penelope is still holding onto her son's and Corona's mementos. Why don't you let her take those two things with her, as a way for her to keep some final memories?"

After hearing Lola's words, indeed, Kemp's gaze, sharp as a knife, landed on Penelope's hand.
