Chapter 273 Mr. Lyman Returned!
Blood was splattered everywhere.
"Dad..."
Penelope murmured softly in her heart, and could only do so in her heart, for in this life, she could never call out to him loudly as 'Dad'.
Dalton just stood there, exuding an icy aura. Some people are just like that, casually standing, yet radiating an air of superiority.
He looked at her expressionlessly, as if he was looking at an ant that could be crushed underfoot with a single step.
Penelope's heart grew increasingly sorrowful, an endless desolation that swallowed her heart in an instant, leaving her, even the strength to shed tears, completely depleted.
She wasn't sure if it was because she had lost too much blood, her consciousness was muddled, and she was hallucinating. In her daze, she heard Lyman's voice.
She heard him scream, "Penelope!" with heart-wrenching intensity.
Immediately, her body fell into a warm embrace, her world turned dark.
"Penelope!"
Lyman held Penelope very tightly, so tightly. Seeing the glaring blood red on Penelope's wrist, his eyes too, turned a stark red.
He lifted his face, his eyes red as he roared at Dalton, "Dad, who allowed you to hurt Penelope! Dad, you're going to kill Penelope this way!"
"Penelope..."
Lyman gently patted Penelope's little face, but she was like a dead person, no matter what he said to her, she had no response at all.
Lyman had always thought that Penelope was dead. He was so heartbroken that he ran off to a godforsaken place for self-exile.
Having been away for over a month, he started to worry about Chelsea's situation again and wanted to come back to check on her.
Unexpectedly, as soon as I entered the house, I saw Penelope.
The living Penelope.
He was ecstatic, but in the next second, he noticed that Penelope's wrist was bleeding.
Her body was still rudely pinned to the ground by the bodyguard of the Hilliard family.
Clearly, the fact that she bled so much was all thanks to her wonderful father, Dalton!
Lyman was both heartbroken and angry, but he was more concerned about Penelope's injuries. He didn't dare to delay, he picked her up horizontally and rushed out quickly.
The well-trained bodyguard stood in front of Lyman, "Young Master, please let go of Ms. Sullivan!"
"She was injured! I needed to take her to the hospital!"
Lyman was so angry that he really wanted to slap these two bodyguards to death. He lifted his foot, wanting to kick them away, but he was holding Penelope and it was inconvenient for him to move. They still stood in front of him like two big mountains.
"Lyman, he hurt Lola, she had to leave her life here!" Dalton's voice, laden with a heavy chill, made one shudder from the bottom of their heart.
Lyman was also afraid of his own powerful father, but because of love, he became exceptionally brave.
He turned his face, anger burning intensely in his bright eyes, "Dad, how could Penelope possibly hurt Lola! It must be Lola causing trouble again! Dad, make them move!"
"Lyman, Lola is your own sister!" Dalton's eyes were filled with obvious dissatisfaction, "Now you are speaking ill of Lola for a woman who has hurt her badly, I really shouldn't have let her live!"
"Dad, you were simply being unreasonable!"
Seeing Penelope's wrist still bleeding profusely, Lyman was so anxious that he was nearly jumping out of his skin.
He knew that even if he continued speaking, Dalton would not listen to him. He had no choice but to bring up his own mother.
"Dad, Mom said that she forbade you from hurting Penelope! Now that you've hurt Penelope like this, when Mom wakes up, I will definitely tell her that you didn't listen to her, and make her ignore you forever!"
Dalton was arrogant and carefree, acting as if he was invincible. However, what he feared most was Chelsea ignoring him. When Lyman mentioned this, he really started to worry that Chelsea might be angry with him.
After all, Penelope had hurt Lola, but now Lola was still alive. If he killed Penelope, Chelsea might really get angry.
Seeing that Dalton's bodyguards no longer continued to block him, Lyman, holding Penelope, rushed to the hospital like the wind.
The Hilliard's villa was very close to the private hospital newly opened by Edward. Soon, Lyman drove to that hospital.
Holding Penelope in his arms again, feeling her light weight, and looking at her pale little face, Lyman's heart ached as if it was being mercilessly pricked by countless needles.
He should have come back earlier.
If he could have always stayed by her side, she wouldn't have suffered so much injustice.
"Penelope, in the future, I would protect you, I wouldn't let anyone bully you again."
Lyman carefully brushed a stray lock of hair from Penelope's forehead, holding her as if he was embracing a long-lost treasure that had been found again.
Upon entering the hospital, Penelope was immediately rushed into the emergency room. Lyman anxiously waited outside, every minute and every second was agony.
Fortunately, it wasn't long before Penelope was pushed out.
Although she remained unconscious, the doctor said it was fortunate that she was brought in time. After the blood transfusion, her life was no longer in danger.
Lyman sat by the sickbed, he didn't want to be apart from Penelope for even a minute.
He gripped her small hand tightly, his voice hoarse with a sense of gain and loss, "Penelope, I'm back!"
"Penelope, I missed you so much!"
Missing her seemed to become a habit. He thought of her at sunrise, and at sunset. When he looked at the mountains, he saw her. When he looked at the water, he saw her. It seemed as if, every minute and every second, he could see her.
He could reach out his hand, but he couldn't touch her warmth.
She was no longer in his life.
Fortunately, she did not really disappear from his life, she was still alive, and he still had the opportunity to accompany her to the end of life.
Seeing Penelope unconsciously furrow her brow in her sleep, Lyman was heartbroken, "Penelope, are you in pain? Penelope, I'm sorry, I came too late!"
"Penelope, you've suffered a lot of injustices, haven't you? Don't be afraid, I'm here! With me around, whoever dares to wrong you, I'll beat them until they question their existence!"
"Even if she, Lola, is my own sister, I, Lyman, will not stand by her if she continues to bully you like this!"
"Penelope, I'm back!" Lyman repeated over and over again, his eyes glistening with tears as he looked at Penelope, a smile playing on his lips.
"Penelope, I was really awesome! Although I couldn't beat my dad, I loved to beat up the scum! I'm back! Penelope, can I beat up the scum for you? So Penelope, you have to be good, wait and see me beat up the scummy men and women, make them cry and faint in the bathroom, unable to get up!"
"Penelope, am I not very impressive? I'm super impressive!" Lyman said, his voice tinged with a heavy sadness, "But even someone as impressive as me, can't bear all your pain for you!"
"Hi, Penelope, let's not talk about these sad things anymore. I know, you're an optimistic girl, we should laugh together. Penelope, you'll look ugly when you cry!"
"Penelope, I know your words from before still count. When you wake up, can we get married? It feels like I've been waiting for lifetimes, waiting for you to become my, Lyman's, bride!"
