Chapter 127 How Should Those Truths Be Confronted?
After four years of life and death dependence, of never leaving or forsaking each other, Kemp truly did not want to use any negative words to describe the girl he loved.
But now, listening to Pennie's voice that was obviously showing off her acting skills, he just couldn't help but feel sarcastic.
Long, straight legs stepped forward, pushing open the tightly closed door of the hospital room. Indeed, Pennie's face was streaked with tears.
Her fragile and helpless appearance seemed as if she had truly suffered a great injustice.
Seeing Kemp enter, Lola quickly spoke to him, "Mr. Hunter, come over and soothe Penny!"
"Just now, I had a hard time coaxing her to sleep for a little while. She might have had a nightmare, because when she woke up, she became so agitated again."
"Penny......"
Kemp moved his lips, he found that the person who should have been the closest and most loved, at this moment, he had nothing to say to her.
"Kemp!"
Seeing Kemp, the tears fell even harder from Pennie's eyes.
Her fresh and lovely little face was filled with ancient sorrow, as if she had been brutally attacked by the whole world.
"Kemp, I'm so upset! The thought that it was my incompetence, my failure to protect our child, it almost kills me!"
"Every time I closed my eyes, my mind was filled with nothing but bright red blood! That was the blood of our children!"
"Kemp, why would Penelope do this to me!" I exclaimed. "I always considered her my best friend, why would she brutally kill my child!"
"Pennie, you framed Penelope before, yet you claimed she was your best friend."
Pennie was taken aback. She thought Kemp would carefully comfort her while more ruthlessly tormenting Penelope. She never dared to imagine that he wouldn't be all tender to her, but instead, he uttered such an icy cold sentence.
"Kemp...."
After all, Pennie was Pennie. In an instant, she had regained her innocent, pitiful look. "Kemp, I know I've done wrong to Penelope. But I've admitted my mistake! I've also asked for her forgiveness!"
"Kemp, I made a mistake, I am willing to correct it, and I am also willing to atone for it! All the mistakes were made by me alone. If Penelope wants to punish, she should punish me. Why did she cruelly harm the child in my belly?"
"The child in my belly, he is innocent! He has never hurt anyone, how could Penelope be so cruel to harm our child!"
"I would rather she had killed me!"
"Pennie, aren't you tired from acting so hard?" Kemp felt an unprecedented fatigue in his heart. He really didn't want to watch Pennie act anymore, so he didn't deliberately hide his feelings when he spoke.
"Kemp, what did you mean by that?!"
Pennie's eyes widened in shock, followed by a pitiful distress, as if she had suffered all the grievances.
"Kemp, you can't possibly think that I'm pretending to be pitiful, can you? I lost our child, Penelope has robbed me of even the chance to be a mother, how could I possibly be acting!"
"Pennie, was it really Penelope who pushed you down the stairs?"
After hearing Kemp's words, Pennie subconsciously felt that it was Penelope who had said something in front of him.
Penelope beguiled him with shameless tactics, so he believed her excuses.
Pennie gritted her teeth in secret, her heart filled with a twisted hatred. Her face, pitifully delicate, became even more fragile. "Kemp, of course it was Penelope who pushed me down the stairs! There were only the two of us there at the time. If she didn't push me, what, did I deliberately fall down the stairs?!"
"Kemp, I was pregnant. I was looking forward to the child in my belly more than anyone else. How could I possibly harm our child!"
"Kemp, you surely didn't believe that I killed our child, did you?"
"Kemp, if you really miss me that much, my life has no meaning anymore! Kemp, I always thought you would have unwavering faith in me. If even you don't want to believe me in this world, I, Pennie, might as well die!"
"Penny......"
Upon hearing Kemp's address to her reverting back to that affectionate "Penny", Pennie's heart, which had been hanging in suspense, instantly fell back into place.
Even if he was bewitched by Penelope, the person he subconsciously loved was still her, Pennie. She wouldn't believe Penelope!
"Kemp, do you know, just now, your behavior really upset me! I thought you had fallen in love with Penelope, you even started doubting me for her!"
"Penny, I didn't doubt you, I was certain, Penelope didn't harm our child."
"Kemp, what did you say?!" Pennie exclaimed, her mouth agape in shock. Her mouth was so wide open, it could almost fit an egg.
"Penny, I watched the video from the second floor staircase of the Wonder branch."
Kemp paused slightly, then spoke, "In the video, Penelope didn't touch you at all, it was you who deliberately fell down the stairs!"
After hearing Kemp's words, Pennie couldn't help but look at Lola, asking, "What on earth is going on?"
Lola shook her head gently, she too hadn't expected such a turn of events. Upon learning that Pennie had fallen down the stairs, she knew, she had taken action.
She immediately called the branch, where her man was the manager. Upon receiving the call, the manager didn't hesitate to destroy the video from the second floor and even fabricated the illusion of a problem with the surveillance system.
She had done it flawlessly, she couldn't understand how Kemp could have seen that video!
Pennie also thought that Kemp couldn't have possibly seen the video. She wanted to make a last-ditch effort, "Kemp, I didn't frame Penelope at all! Kemp, please believe me, okay?"
Seeing that Pennie was unrepentant, Kemp didn't want to argue with her anymore. He simply said in a calm voice, "Pennie, do I really need to have someone send the video to your phone before you admit that you deliberately fell down the stairs?"
Pennie's heart pounded wildly, did Kemp really have that video?!
"I......" Pennie wanted to defend herself, but for a moment, she really didn't know how to start.
She could only resort to a tearful offensive, shedding tears before uttering a word.
Looking at Pennie in front of him, her tears mingling with her snot, Kemp felt an unprecedented exhaustion in his heart. After a long silence, he sighed helplessly, "Penny, was it worth it to frame Penelope, even if it meant killing our child and hurting your own body?"
Just now, Pennie was really playing the victim, but after hearing Kemp's words, she could no longer restrain her nearly collapsing emotions.
Her tears, like a dam breaking, fell pitter-patter.
She knew she couldn't hide it any longer. Her continued denial would only make Kemp more annoyed.
But she admitted it, wouldn't he be disgusted with her then?
Upon thinking, Pennie cried even harder.
She vigorously wiped away the tears at the corner of her eyes, lifting those eyes that were as red as a rabbit's, "Kemp, you think I framed Penelope, that I'm a villain, so, you're breaking up with me now, aren't you?!"
