Chapter 301 Could the Foolish Lame Participate in the Sports Meet?!
Seeing Everett walking towards her in the sunlight, Penelope was taken aback. It was the first time she had seen him in sportswear.
In her memory, Everett had always been prim and proper, meticulous, with a perfectly tailored suit on his body. It seemed as if every strand of his hair was telling of his preciousness and unattainability.
In fact, Everett wasn't much older than her, only a few years at most, but due to his overly mature personality, he always gave off a sense of being wise beyond his years.
But that day, he was dressed in this black tracksuit, as if he was the heartthrob on the basketball court during his school days, young, bright, full of vitality, so handsome that one couldn't take their eyes off him.
It took Penelope a good while to realize what Everett had just said.
Previously, Bryson's sons George and Ethan had a fight, at that time, they indeed mistakenly thought Everett was Ethan's father.
But she knew, Bryson had moved into a bigger villa a while ago, and after they moved, George had also transferred schools.
Aside from the kindergarten teachers, no one else in their kindergarten ever mistook Everett for Ethan's father.
So, Everett no longer needed to continue pretending to be Ethan's father.
"Mr. Murray, no need, you're so busy, with so many things to deal with every day. It's such a waste of time for you to be with us. You better go and get busy!"
"Penelope, it was the weekend, I was free!"
Penelope was taken aback by Everett's words, but she still didn't want to join him in Ethan's kindergarten parent-child activity.
Parent-child activities should be participated in by a family of three. She and Everett were just friends. What did it count for if they participated together!
"Mr. Murray, you really don't need to trouble yourself, I've already bothered you too much, I can't..."
"Penelope, attending Ethan's parent-child activity was not a bother."
Everett stepped forward, gently taking Ethan's hand, "Ethan, would you like me and your mother to attend your sports day?"
Ethan didn't speak immediately, instead he turned his face and quietly glanced at Zackary and Lola not far away.
Lola and Zackary's hands were intimately intertwined, her small head casually resting on his shoulder, presenting a picture of a delicate bird relying on a person.
Ethan desolately withdrew his gaze from them, truly feeling that this scene was indescribably glaring.
This scene also made him more clearly affirm one thing.
His father didn't want him anymore.
For a bad woman, let him go.
He repeatedly bullied mom for that wicked woman.
Ethan clenched his little fists tightly. He was a little man with backbone. Even if his father didn't want him anymore, he wouldn't want his father either, even though, he really loved his father.
"I want to." Ethan spoke softly, knowing that his uncle Lyman had been trying to set up Penelope and Everett recently. He also liked the man in front of him who looked warm and reliable. After a pause, he continued, "Mom, can we have Uncle Everett join us?"
"Other children all had their fathers with them, Ethan also wanted his father."
Penelope, "..."
She could reject Everett without hesitation, but she couldn't reject Ethan.
Noticing Zackary approaching them, Ethan's small body couldn't help but tense up. He voluntarily tightened his grip on Everett's hand, "Dad, Mom, I'm so happy that you both could accompany me to the sports day today!"
Zackary didn't know why he felt compelled to walk towards Penelope and Ethan. Before he even reached them, he could hear Ethan's voice.
Dad...
The "Dad" Ethan was referring to was clearly not Zackary, but Everett.
Penelope and Everett, indeed, were already together.
Indeed, last night, a man and a woman alone, tossing and turning in a small apartment all night, how could there possibly be no relationship!
How ridiculous it was, she gave birth to this stupid cripple, trying to seize the property of the Spencer family. Now that her scheme failed, she had this stupid cripple call Everett 'Dad', hoping to get a share from the Murray family in the future.
She really was something, for money, she could do anything shameless!
"Dad, you look so handsome today!" Ethan looked at Everett with curved eyebrows and eyes, praising him sincerely.
"Dad, there was a sports meet today, we were going to win the championship together!"
"Alright." Everett gently responded, cradling Ethan in his arms.
Their interaction was so affectionate that Penelope couldn't even get a word in.
She really didn't want to participate in the parent-child activities with Everett, it was too easy to be misunderstood. But seeing the bright smile on Ethan's face, she couldn't bring herself to say a word of refusal to him.
That's it then, after all, it was just a parent-child activity, she wouldn't lose a few pounds anyway.
With such thoughts, Penelope's heart instantly felt much more at ease.
She turned around, intending to take Ethan and Everett into the kindergarten. Unexpectedly, as she lifted her face, she saw Zackary standing in front of her, along with Lola.
She was just an insignificant passerby, Penelope had no intention of greeting Zackary.
Who would have known, he stood in front of her like a stone pillar, showing no intention of stepping aside.
"Mr. Spencer, excuse me!" Penelope spoke lightly, "A good dog does not block the way!"
"Ha!"
Zackary was directly amused by Penelope's words. This woman, she was becoming more and more presumptuous, even daring to call him a dog?!
Did she think that with Everett backing her up, she could do whatever she wanted?! She was dreaming!
"Everett, what are you doing, playing the benevolent father to this fool? Everett, I've known you for so many years, how come I never knew you enjoyed playing daddy so much?!"
"Zackary, Ethan is not a stupid cripple! He is the best child!" Feeling the tremble in Ethan, Everett held him tightly, "Zackary, you should apologize to Ethan for what you said!"
"What, did I say something wrong?! Isn't he a cripple?!" Zackary curled his lip, looking at Ethan with disgust. "A cripple participating in a sports event, isn't that ridiculous?! He's simply beyond help!"
Zackary gave a cool laugh, then turned around and led the way into the kindergarten.
His back was straight as a rod, appearing stern and indifferent. Yet, in the moment he turned around, the pain in his eyes was impossible to conceal.
That was his own flesh and blood, but Penelope, this heartless woman, to please her new lover, actually had him call someone else 'Dad'.
They all abandoned him.
"Mr. Spencer, I indeed am a cripple!" Ethan spoke word by word, "But my participation in the sports meet is not ridiculous! My parents and I, our family, will win the championship!"
"A cripple aiming for the championship in sports meet?! What a huge joke!" Zackary laughed, but there was not a trace of warmth in his eyes or between his brows.
Ethan's cheeks puffed up in anger, "Mr. Spencer, don't look down on me! I will definitely win the championship, just you wait and see!"
