Chapter 55 Zack, You're Dirty!

Having said that, Penelope mustered all her strength, ready to leap off the edge of the cliff.

"Penelope!"

Zackary quickly stepped forward, he tightly embraced Penelope's body. He, such a tough man, was uncontrollably trembling.

"Mr. Spencer, let go of me! I need to find my Ethan! Ethan said he was cold down there all by himself, I need to find him!"

"Penelope, I was going to send someone to find that wild... I was going to send someone to find Ethan! Don't do anything foolish!"

"Stupid thing?"

Penelope laughed, her eyes full of world-weary self-mockery. "Losing Ethan and still choosing to live, now that's foolish!"

Penelope gritted her teeth, charging forward like a madwoman, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't break free from Zackary's grip.

"Let me go! You let me go!"

Penelope struggled like a trapped animal, Zackary's eyes were blood red as he directly scooped her up sideways, "Penelope, I won't let you do anything foolish!"

"Penelope, don't go looking for Ethan. I know, this time, I've wronged you. But Lola saved my life, I can't ignore her fate."

"Penelope, as long as you're okay, we can start over. Penelope..."

The person in his arms suddenly became extremely quiet. Zackary thought she had taken in his words. However, when he lowered his head, he saw that she had long since passed out motionless.

The wound on her forehead was still bleeding, and the corner of her lips was also bleeding incessantly. So much blood, as if it would never stop flowing.

"Penelope!"

Zackary was heartbroken, forgetting to even pay attention to Lola. He held Penelope and dashed towards the direction of the parked car like a madman.

He had originally planned to take Penelope directly back to Silverybay Estates and have a private doctor treat her. However, when he drove down the mountain, Penelope suddenly woke up.

He worried that she would once again risk her life for Ethan. Unexpectedly, after she woke up, she didn't clamor to be with Ethan anymore, but was surprisingly calm.

But the more peaceful it was, the more it tormented Zackary's heart.

"Penelope...."

"Mr. Spencer, could you please take me to Horse House," Penelope said expressionlessly, as if her spirit had completely dissipated, leaving behind only a rigid shell.

"Penelope, Ethan..."

Penelope interrupted Zackary's voice coolly and indifferently, "Mr. Spencer, please accumulate some virtue in the future, don't call Ethan's name anymore, he finds it disgusting!"

Zackary's heart skipped a beat. If it had been in the past, had Penelope dared to speak to him like this, he would have already snapped her neck. But this time, he was in the wrong, and in the end, he didn't say a word.

Koenigsegg sped all the way and quickly arrived at Horse House.

Penelope numbly opened the door, only reacting when she saw Zackary was about to come in.

She quickly stood in front of the door, preventing him from entering. Her voice remained eerily calm, neither happy nor sad, as if everything in the world, the rolling red dust, had nothing to do with her anymore.

"Mr. Spencer, please come back,"

"Penelope...."

Without giving him a chance to speak, Penelope calmly began, "Mr. Spencer, I know what you're worried about. You're afraid I might do something drastic. Rest assured, I remember the agreement we signed. That one billion, I won't let you spend it in vain."

"I would live well, be your beloved, so, you could go back."

After saying this, Penelope forcefully shut the door of the small apartment.

After the door was tightly closed, Penelope could no longer control herself. She leaned against the door, her body gradually sliding down to the ground as if all her strength had been drained away.

Ethan couldn't survive.

Ethan was already in poor health, surviving from such a high cliff was simply impossible!

Such a high cliff, she couldn't go down except to die, she couldn't even find Ethan's body.

Penelope clung tightly to her legs, sobbing silently.

Her Ethan, such a good, such a good Ethan, how did he suddenly disappear?

She really wasn't a competent mother. Since Ethan was born prematurely, he had been living with her in that sunless dungeon. She never gave him a single good day, but her Ethan never complained about her. He said she was the best mother in the world, the mother he loved the most.

If it were any other child, living day by day in that kind of hell where no light could be seen, they would have already become depressed, gone mad, and their psyche would have been twisted.

But her Ethan, was always like a little sun, warm and brilliant, as if he could sweep away all the gloom in the world.

Her Ethan was really different from other children. Other little ones, even at four or five, or even five or six years old, were still babies who didn't understand anything.

Her Ethan, sensible from a young age, knew when he was just over a year old to pick up the warm bun and give it to his mother first.

Her Ethan, kind, optimistic, brave, always looking towards the light, but why did the light never seem to favor him!

Her beloved Ethan, so good and kind, was ultimately consumed by darkness. He withered away before he even had the chance to grow up.

Penelope lifted her face in panic, she really, really wanted to cry, to cry so hard that her tears and snot would flood like the Yellow River, but she sadly discovered, no matter how sad she was, her eyes, like they were dried up, couldn't shed a single tear.

He could only whimper lowly, like a forsaken little beast, expressing the desolation in his heart.

Sometimes, Penelope really found fate to be quite amusing. It always seemed to plunge people into the depths of hell after showing them a glimmer of light.

It seemed as if she had gone through great hardships to raise 160 thousand dollars. She was filled with joy, thinking that life finally had hope, that she could afford Ethan's surgery. But Ethan was kidnapped by a ruthless villain. If she didn't have the money to ransom him, they would kill him.

She compromised, she sold herself, and earned the ransom.

She held the bank card, hesitating and cautious, but in the end?

In her lifetime, she could never embrace her Ethan again...

"Woo woo..."

Penelope clamped her mouth shut tightly, clutching Ethan's photo. She held it so, so tightly, almost as if she wanted to rub the photo into her body.

It seemed that only by holding onto this photo so tightly, did she have the strength to keep breathing.

After Ethan was pushed off the cliff, Zackary immediately summoned a helicopter to search for Ethan at the bottom of the cliff.

His special assistant Samuel, had his subordinates bring back Lola.

Those kidnappers thought that by taking Lola as a hostage, they could leave without a trace. However, except for the ringleader, all of them were captured by Samuel and sent to the police station.

Penelope had been clutching Ethan's photo, curled up in her little corner of the world. If it hadn't been for Corona coming to find her, to keep her company, she might have truly isolated herself from the world, waiting to die alone here.

The next morning, Penelope finally received a message from Ethan.

It was Lola who brought her the news.
