Chapter 487 She Wanted to Kill Lola!

Penelope had a particularly restless sleep last night.

She had been having dreams, particularly painful and terrifying ones.

She dreamed of Ethan lying motionlessly on the bed, so small and looking so frail and pitiful.

She reached out, wanting to gently touch Ethan's face, but she couldn't. She could only watch everything happening around her like a bystander.

She saw Lola walk in with a mischievous smile on her face.

In Lola's hand, she held a knife that gleamed with a cold light. Blood was on the tip of the knife, dripping down one drop at a time.

Penelope was wondering where the blood on the knife in Lola's hand came from, when she saw her viciously pull the knife out of Ethan's body. It was Ethan's blood!

"No!"

Penelope screamed in agony, wanting to stop Lola from hurting Ethan, but she had already lunged forward, and she still couldn't do anything.

Mingming, Lola, and Ethan were right in front of her, yet an invisible barrier separated them into two different worlds.

"Penelope, rest assured, I took good care of Ethan! I took good care of him!"

Lola's voice sounded extremely eerie, especially when she mentioned anything about taking care, it was filled with pure malice.

Penelope shook her head vehemently, she didn't want Lola to take care of her Ethan, she wouldn't allow anyone to take her Ethan away. But no matter how hard she shook her head, it was all in vain.

Lola once again raised that sharp, blood-stained knife, and then, she fiercely thrust it towards Ethan's face...

"No!"

Penelope screamed and woke up from her sleep, realizing it was just a dream.

But Penelope's heart was still pounding violently. She knew clearly that although this was just a dream, if Ethan continued to stay in Silverybay Estates, such a thing would happen sooner or later.

What should she have done to win her Ethan back?

Just as she was drenched in cold sweat, lost in her thoughts, her phone rang insistently.

Lola's phone call.

Penelope really didn't want to deal with the lunatic Lola, but now that Ethan was in her and Zackary's hands, no matter how much she despised her, she couldn't possibly hang up her call directly.

Quickly picking up the phone, Penelope's voice was filled with obvious tension and worry, "Where's Ethan? How is Ethan doing now?"

"Penelope, didn't you want to see your precious son with your own eyes?"

Before Penelope could speak, Lola continued, "Penelope, Zackary is not at Silverybay Estates now, I can take advantage of his absence to let you see the stupid cripple you gave birth to!"

In Lola's voice, there was a clear malice. Penelope knew it, she knew Lola was up to no good, but she was just too worried about Ethan at the moment. Despite knowing the risks, she had to go see her Ethan.

After hanging up the phone, Penelope headed straight for Silverybay Estates.

Lola, now seemingly the mistress of Silverybay Estates, had already instructed the servants to let Penelope in, so no one stopped her all the way to the hall.

Lola was standing at the top of the stairs on the second floor, looking at Penelope with a half-smile, "Penelope, there's something you surely don't know, right?"

Penelope didn't have time to waste on Lola, she just wanted to find Ethan as quickly as possible. She pushed past Lola who was blocking her way, ignoring her completely, and headed straight for Ethan's room.

Ethan was not in the room.

Penelope had searched almost every room on the second floor, but she hadn't found any sign of Ethan.

Seeing Lola still standing at the stairway with a smirk, Penelope realized something. With her eyes red, she yelled at her, "Lola, where is Ethan? Where have you hidden him?!"

"Penelope, I hadn't finished speaking just now!"

Penelope ignored her, but Lola didn't feel snubbed. She continued to speak on her own, "Penelope, something big happened yesterday. That stupid cripple you gave birth to, he..."

Lola deliberately prolonged her words, tantalizing Penelope.

Penelope's heart gave a sudden jolt, thinking of the dream she had last night, her bad premonition grew even stronger.

The color drained from her face in an instant, yet her eyes grew even redder.

She stared intently at Lola, speaking word by word, "Lola, what on earth happened to Ethan? What on earth did you do to Ethan?!"

"Penelope, that foolish cripple, he jumped off a building yesterday!"

"What!" Penelope couldn't help but exclaim, she stepped forward, tightly grabbing Lola's collar, "Lola, stop talking nonsense here! I don't believe my Ethan would jump off a building! Give me back my Ethan! Give him back to me!"

"Penelope, don't rush! I didn't say that the stupid cripple had died, he's not even dead yet!"

Lola squinted her eyes, her already slightly harsh face revealing a fierce expression, looking like a wicked ghost that had fallen from a sea of blood.

"That stupid cripple, he sure is lucky. He fell from the rooftop and he's still breathing!"

"Oh, Penelope, do you know why that stupid cripple jumped off the building? Although he was both stupid and crippled, he was really good to you! He was afraid that Zackary and I would use him to pressure you, he didn't want to be a burden to you, so, he sought death!"

"Lola, where is Ethan?! I need to see Ethan! Give me back my Ethan now!"

Mother and son share a deep bond. Upon hearing about Ethan's jump from the building, Penelope truly broke down. She couldn't care about anything else at that moment, all she wanted was to see her Ethan one more time.

Truly, even if it was just a glance, it was enough.

"Penelope, I showed you that stupid cripple right then!"

Lola didn't take Penelope to meet Ethan, instead, she took out her phone and played a video.

In the video, Ethan stood at the edge of the rooftop, his eyes tightly shut and arms wide open. On his small face, a world-weary sorrow was etched. Clearly, he intended to leap off this rooftop.

"No!"

Penelope knew that whatever was happening in the video must have already occurred. Yet, seeing Ethan standing so lifelessly on the edge of the rooftop, her heart still ached as if it was being cut by a knife.

She reached out, trying hard to grab Ethan at the edge of the rooftop, but she couldn't grasp anything.

Lola tapped her fingertip and opened another video.

In the video, Ethan lay motionless on the bed, his small face speckled with drops of blood. His body was covered under a quilt, and Penelope couldn't tell how severely he was injured.

She could see his thin, bloodless face and the blood on it, and she knew, he must have been feeling very, very unwell.

Soon, another person appeared in the video.

Lola.

Lola smirked maliciously at the camera, and in her hand, as if by magic, appeared a long needle. Her face was twisted in a grimace, and with all her strength, she viciously jabbed the needle towards Ethan.

Again and again, it seemed, there was no end in sight.

"No!"

Penelope screamed in agony, her heart shattered by the pain.

Truly, the pain of heartbreak was nothing more than this.

How could the treasure she held in her palm be so tormented and hurt by others!

Such a long needle, stuck in his body, how much pain he must have felt! She didn't want her baby to be in such pain!

She wanted to kill Lola!
