Chapter 46 Zack, you killed me!
Penelope's actions were actually a bit slow. Lola could have completely avoided them just now, but for some dark, hidden purposes, she did not.
Penelope hadn't originally planned on kidnapping Lola, but now it seemed that kidnapping Lola was the best way to get the money.
Zackary's heart was harder than she had imagined. If he wanted Ethan dead, even if she died here today, he would not pay to save Ethan. He cared so much about Lola, perhaps, if she threatened him with Lola's life, he would compromise.
In Zackary's heart, Lola's life was worth much more than her own.
Having made up her mind, Penelope moved the tip of the knife a bit closer to Lola's heart. If she exerted a little more force, she would pierce Lola's skin.
Lola screamed hysterically, "Zackary, save me! My sister has gone mad, she's going to kill me!"
Hearing Lola's scream, Zackary finally came down from upstairs.
Upon seeing Penelope, his already cold handsome face became even more frosty, as if covered with knife frost.
"Penelope, let go of Lola!"
"Zack, I need ten million. If you don't give me the money, I'll kill Lola right now!" As she spoke, Penelope increased her force, and blood instantly pricked from Lola's skin.
Lola's face was as pale as a ghost, looking utterly panicked. Even at this moment, she didn't forget to act. Her eyes were filled with pitiful tears. "Sister, why are you treating me like this?" she asked.
"I knew, you hated me for taking Zackary away, but you were the one who didn't want Zackary first! What did I do wrong that you have to hurt me over and over again, even wanting to harm my life?!"
"Lola, stop pretending!"
Lola's hypocrisy truly disgusted Penelope, she couldn't help but speak out, "Lola, pretending to be kind and pitiful all day, don't you get sick of your own wickedness?!"
After saying this, Penelope couldn't be bothered to pay any more attention to Lola. She lifted her face to look at Zack, forcing herself not to let her tears fall. "Zack, ten million, Lola's life, you can only choose one!"
Actually, Penelope didn't want to threaten Zackary like that.
She wanted to say to him even more, "Zack, please, can you save our Ethan? Ethan is truly your own flesh and blood! If you don't save him, you will regret it for the rest of your life!"
However, she knew in her heart that he would not believe her words. Therefore, she had no choice but to resort to this most extreme measure to get the money.
"Zackary, I'm in so much pain..." Lola's brows furrowed, looking frail and delicate.
Zackary's gaze towards Penelope became even more icy. He commanded, word by word, "Penelope, let Lola go!"
"I said, I want ten million, otherwise..."
"Bang!"
The knife in Penelope's hand was kicked away fiercely.
The moment the knife fell, it grazed Penelope's wrist. Although the wound wasn't very deep, it still drew a small patch of blood, a strikingly bright red, uniquely poignant.
Penelope lowered her face, her movements were so stiff, so slow, like slow motion in a movie.
Seeing the blood on her own wrist, she suddenly let out a ghastly laugh.
In the end, she still failed.
Zack, you said, how did we end up here?
"Lola, how are you?" Zackary pulled Lola tightly into his arms, a tenderness that Penelope hadn't experienced for many years.
"Zackary, I'm so scared! My sister was so terrifying just now..." Lola looked terrified, her body trembling. She shrank into Zackary's arms, "Zackary, I'm scared..."
"Lola, don't be afraid, I told you, I won't let anyone hurt you!"
When Zackary looked at Lola, there was tenderness in his eyes, but when he looked at Penelope, only bloodthirsty coldness remained.
"Penelope!"
Word by word, almost spat out from between his teeth, as if Penelope was his sworn enemy.
"Penelope, you should be damned!"
Penelope's detached consciousness gradually returned. She lifted her face, and although her tears had not fallen, she still looked utterly distraught.
"Zack, I gave you my life, could you lend me some money to save Ethan, please?"
Penelope's stomach started to hurt again, a spasm rippling through it. She stumbled violently, nearly falling to the ground.
She hastily pulled out painkillers from her pocket, pouring four or five directly into her palm and swallowed them with difficulty.
Having just taken the painkiller, the pain did not subside much. Her hands were still uncontrollably trembling.
She shivered as she picked up the fruit knife that had fallen on the ground, holding it up to Zackary, "Zack, you wanted me dead, didn't you? Here's the knife! You can do whatever you want to me, all I ask is that you save Ethan, okay?"
Zackary's gaze was fixed intently on the pocket where Penelope had just put the medicine.
What kind of medicine was this dead woman taking? Why did she seem so weak?
Yes, this must be another one of her self-victimizing schemes, pretending to be sick, pretending to be pitiful!
Zackary snapped back to reality, his heart, which had slightly softened, instantly turned as cold and hard as iron again.
He looked at Penelope, his lips curling in a mocking sneer, "Penelope, taking your life would be beneath me!"
"Get out! I told you, don't ever show up in front of me again, or else, without the need for any so-called kidnappers, I'll personally send you and that bastard on your way!"
After saying this, Zackary gave a signal to the villa's butler who was standing respectfully by his side. The butler understood immediately. He called several servants and they directly threw Penelope out of the villa.
It was a world of ice and snow.
Penelope fell onto the somewhat thick accumulated snow, her consciousness slowly becoming blurry. But thinking of Ethan still waiting for her to save him, she dared not close her eyes.
She hadn't even gotten up from the ground when blood had already spurted out from her mouth.
In the past, she would cough up blood, stopping after a few times, but this time, the blood seemed endless. She had already coughed up several mouthfuls, and the bright red blood was still seeping from the corners of her mouth.
She gritted her teeth and climbed up from the snow. In just a brief moment, her clothes were stained with a large patch of blood.
She was completely oblivious to all of this, she just kept moving forward, rigidly, one step at a time.
In the vast universe, with boundless seas, in that moment, she didn't know which direction she should take.
After walking for a while, Penelope suddenly half-squatted on the ground. She finally couldn't control herself, covering her face and sobbing softly.
What should she have done to save her Ethan?
Long after Penelope was carried out by the servant, Zackary's gaze was still firmly locked on the living room door.
Penelope came to borrow money from him, which he found quite amusing. Hadn't she attached herself to Lyman? Why did she still need to come to him for money?
The woman, as fickle as water and vain, would not let a single man go in order to get money. She was full of tricks!
So engrossed in his own thoughts, Lola's lips were almost touching his face, and he didn't even notice.
It was not until her soft, muffled "Zackary" that he suddenly snapped back to reality.
"Zackary, can I stay tonight?" Lola gently wrapped her arms around his neck, her breath as sweet as orchids, "Zackary, I miss you..."
