Chapter 429 Sent Penelope on her way ahead of time!
Penelope's outstretched hand suddenly froze. Then, she mechanically withdrew it and spoke with a hint of fatigue, "Mr. Spencer, you should go and take care of your wound!"
Holding his hand, what would it matter to give him a sincere heart once again?
Wasn't it true that if Lola used even the slightest trick, he would treat her like a venomous snake and push her away harshly?
Life was short, she really didn't want to struggle like this anymore.
Besides, she couldn't let Everett down.
"Penelope, what did you say?" Zackary's voice trembled as he spoke, his hands suddenly tightening, clutching the love knot in his hand. "Penelope, the wooden box, the photos, our love knot, I've found them all. Why won't you come back to me?"
Penelope didn't respond to Zackary's words, instead she stared at the lover's knot in his hand and murmured, "Lover's knot, united hearts... Mr. Spencer, touch your own heart and ask yourself, are we united in heart?"
"Mr. Spencer, we are not in sync, so, my heart, will never be yours again! Never!"
"Mr. Spencer, stop pestering me, it really cheapens you! Let's part on good terms!"
The knot of unity could be retrieved, but that heart, riddled with a thousand wounds, could never be resurrected.
Zackary's pupils suddenly constricted, he looked at Penelope in pain and disbelief. His voice trembled as he spoke, helpless and panicked like an abandoned baby, "Penelope, what did you say?"
"Mr. Spencer," I said, "one must have grace. If you don't love, then you don't love. Don't insist on it any longer!"
Not loving is not loving, don't insist anymore...
In an instant, Zackary's incomparably handsome face lost all its color.
He withdrew his hand in despair, like a slow motion scene in a movie, slowly lowering his head, staring blankly at his own palm.
He retrieved their promises, but in the end, he still failed to win her sincere heart.
In his heart, he felt both embarrassment and pain. Zackary was in so much pain that he bent over. In the end, he didn't want to show such a defeated side of himself to Penelope. He stiffly turned around and began to walk step by step towards the direction of the hotel.
He knew that she no longer cared, and there was no need for him to treat these things in his palm as treasures.
No matter how much he gritted his teeth in anger, he couldn't throw away the thing in his palm.
He held it like the most precious treasure, moving further and further away from Penelope as if on a pilgrimage.
Watching Zackary's slightly hunched, lonely figure, Penelope's lips couldn't help but quiver.
She wanted to say, "Mr. Spencer, your hand is badly injured, you must take good care of it when you get home."
However, thinking of Lola, the interpreter, by his side, she swallowed back these words.
Penelope laughed at herself mockingly. Two unrelated people, even if he bled to death, it had nothing to do with her. Why should she meddle in other people's business!
No matter how much she forced her heart to become cold towards him, her mind was still occupied by the scars on his hands, making her heart tremble as if it was sick.
The night wind grew colder and colder. As the wind blew across Penelope's face, it too became chillingly cold.
She subconsciously reached out and touched her own face.
Originally, the sudden chill on the face was because there were tears on it.
Warm tears, after rolling down from the corner of the eyes, could turn bone-chillingly cold when blown by a cool breeze.
Actually, her true heart was given to him.
All her sincerity, she gave to her Zack. But her Zack, died in her memories at eighteen. Her sincerity, buried with him in the yellow earth, could never be given to anyone else...
After being in the cold wind for a while, Penelope's mind had cleared up quite a bit. She was afraid that if she stayed outside too long, Everett would worry. She wiped the moisture off her face and planned to return to the hotel.
"Penelope, what a coincidence!"
Before Penelope had even turned around, she heard Pennie's voice, laden with clear malice.
Penelope rolled her eyes in exasperation. It seemed that peace was destined to elude her tonight!
Penelope knew in her gut that Pennie's seeking her out couldn't mean anything good. Not wanting to waste her breath, she treated her as if she were air, not even sparing her a glance as she briskly walked away.
"Penelope, don't be in such a hurry to leave! It was not easy to find you in such a remote place, how could I bear to let you leave so quickly!"
Pennie quickly stepped forward, forcefully grabbing Penelope's wrist. She curled her lips into a sneer, letting out a cold laugh before speaking, "Penelope, do you know what I want to do to you tonight?"
The smile on Pennie's lips became even more unrestrained, provocative and venomous, like a snake spitting out its tongue.
Before Penelope could speak, she spoke again, word by word, "I think, I want your life!"
Saying this, Pennie suddenly exerted force with her hand, gripping Penelope tightly and dragging her towards the edge of the small cliff.
Penelope's face turned pale, she had never imagined that Pennie would be crazy enough to want to kill her!
Of course, she couldn't possibly let Pennie get her way. She exerted force with her hands, trying to shake her off, but her body was already at the end of its tether. Pennie might have looked small, but she was full of strength. She was no match for her at all.
"Penelope, you have late-stage stomach cancer, are you dying soon?"
As Pennie dragged Penelope towards the edge of the cliff, she spoke with ill intent, "Penelope, you really are a handful!"
"You were nearly dead, yet you didn't forget to seduce men everywhere! Originally, I was planning to wait for you to slowly die from cancer, but now, I can't wait any longer!"
"Do you know, seeing all of Kemp's attention being drawn to you, how much pain I felt in my heart?! I wished I could tear my own flesh apart, I wished I could cut you into a thousand pieces and grind your bones to dust!"
"Penelope, I love Kemp, I have never loved anyone this much before, I won't give you the chance to compete with me for Kemp!"
"You overestimated yourself by competing with me for a man, there's only one outcome, and that is death!"
"Penelope, with your broken body, if I threw you off this cliff, you would surely die, wouldn't you? Oh, it would be best if you landed face first. That way, even as a ghost, you wouldn't have the face to seduce men everywhere!"
"Penelope, drop dead!"
Saying this, Pennie mustered all her strength, intending to push Penelope off the cliff edge forcefully.
"Pennie, damn it was you!"
Penelope gritted her teeth, not allowing Pennie's malicious schemes to succeed. She had repeatedly framed her and even attempted to have her bitten to death by a poisonous snake. Such a person truly deserved to die a thousand deaths!
If it hadn't been for Pennie's repeated provocations, if she hadn't impersonated her in front of Kemp, he wouldn't have used Ethan to threaten her. Ethan wouldn't have been so traumatized that he couldn't even speak now.
Penelope desperately moved backwards, trying to get away from the edge of the cliff.
But Pennie had completely lost her mind by then, her strength was surprisingly great. If she exerted just a bit more force, she would be beyond redemption!
