Chapter 417 Who Hurt Chelsea?!
The incident with Chelsea happened when Dalton was out holding a press conference.
She was injected with a drug, her body stiff as a stone. It was highly likely that she would lie rigidly in bed for the rest of her life, unable to even open her eyes, maintaining a thread of breath like a living dead.
Dalton, Jayden, Zackary, Dylan, Isabella, Lola, and others were anxiously standing by Chelsea's side, waiting for the results after Cornelia took her pulse.
After seeing the news about Chelsea's accident online, Penelope was particularly worried about her condition. She wanted to go to the Hilliard's villa to see how she was doing, but she knew in her heart that Dalton would not let her in, let alone get close to her.
Her days were numbered, she really had no hope of becoming the daughter of the Hilliard family again, but Chelsea, the one who had given her life, even if she had no chance to call her "mom" in front of her until her death, she still hoped that she could be well, healthy and worry-free for a lifetime.
She couldn't stay by Chelsea's side, she could only anxiously clutch her phone, vainly hoping to get her latest news from the media.
At the Hilliard's villa, Dalton's eyes were bloodshot as he stared unblinkingly at Chelsea's small face. Seeing Cornelia release her wrist, he anxiously asked, "How is Chelsea?"
Cornelia shook her head gently, "Dalton, Chelsea's condition is very bad. There's a high chance that, for the rest of her life, this is it."
"What?! What do you mean 'that's it for this life'?!" Dalton couldn't help but cry out in pain. He took a step forward, gripping Chelsea's small hand tightly, as if, as long as he held her hand hard enough, she could still open her eyes, smile with her eyes crinkling at the corners, and say to him, "Dalton, I'm awake."
"Dalton, the drug that Chelsea was injected with was extremely toxic. Her health was already poor, and even if I did everything I could, I could only ensure she lived a few more years."
"I don't believe it! She will wake up, she must wake up!"
Dalton's body was shaking uncontrollably, his face pale and ghastly, devoid of any trace of color. His deep blue eyes were filled with a heavy crimson, as if his soul had fallen into a bloody hell from which he could not escape.
"Cornelia, Chelsea can't be in trouble! I know you're skilled in medicine, please, you must save her!"
Saying so, Dalton actually fell on his knees in front of Cornelia with a thud.
Cornelia was truly startled by his actions. Dalton was the most arrogant and unrestrained, his background had already destined him to be high above the rest of his life.
She never dared to imagine that Dalton, such a wild man, would also kneel to others. He truly was madly in love with Chelsea.
"Dalton, don't be like this! I will definitely find a way to save Chelsea! As long as there is a glimmer of hope, I will save her!"
Upon hearing Cornelia's words, a hint of vitality finally returned to Dalton's face. However, the pain in his eyes still overflowed like a flood.
Dylan and the others couldn't bear to see Dalton in this state. He and Isabella, with a certain understanding, stepped forward. One on the left and one on the right, they helped him up.
"Aunt Cornelia, what did you say? Did you say mom might never wake up again?!"
Lola looked utterly devastated, clutching her chest and shaking her head incessantly, "No! I can't believe it! I can't believe mom turned into a zombie!"
"Mom was so kind, who on earth wanted to harm her! It's all my fault, if it wasn't for my failure to protect her in the hospital before, she wouldn't have been hurt by my sister! Now it's because dad held a press conference to protect me, which gave the bad guys an opportunity, making mom's condition even worse!"
"If mom can't wake up, I don't want to live either! It's my fault, I'm the one who harmed mom!"
"Mom, wake up! Please, wake up!"
Lola threw herself onto Chelsea, her face a mix of snot and tears. She was crying so hard that her lips were trembling non-stop. Her expression of unbearable pain was as if her heart had been torn into countless pieces.
"Mom, I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! It's all my fault! I've hurt you, mom! Please, I beg you, wake up, okay?!"
"Do you know, seeing you like this, I really feel so bad, so bad! Mom, I'm sorry! I'd rather die than see you suffer such great harm!"
Lola turned around, looking pitifully at Dalton, "Dad, I'm sorry! It's all my fault, I hurt mom! I will never forgive myself!"
Chelsea was hurt like this, Dalton's heart ached so much that it felt like it died several times, but he knew, Lola was his Chelsea's most precious daughter, he also didn't want to see her so upset.
He still held Chelsea's little hand tightly, he spoke with some fatigue, "Lola, it's not your fault, it's me who didn't protect Chelsea well."
It was him, who had poor judgment of character, blinded.
Yes, Dalton and his team had roughly guessed who was responsible for harming Chelsea.
After Chelsea was injured, Dalton stayed by her side almost constantly, handling the affairs of the Hilliard Group at the Hilliard's villa.
He held this press conference outside the nearest hotel to the Hilliard's villa to save time. The round trip took no more than half an hour.
During this period, he had Luisa, an old servant who had worked for the Hilliard family for many years, help take care of Chelsea. He had always trusted Luisa, and in such a short time, logically, nothing could go wrong. Unexpectedly, when he returned, Chelsea's body had become as stiff as a stone, and Luisa was nowhere to be found.
He had already had all the surveillance footage from inside the villa pulled up. Luisa, carrying a black bag, hurriedly left the Hilliard's villa.
Clearly, the person who hurt Chelsea was Luisa!
"Mr. Hilliard, we've intercepted Luisa!" Outside the door, Dalton's subordinate spoke respectfully.
Before his subordinates had even brought Luisa in, Lola had already excitedly thrown herself at her.
"Luisa, was it you who injected poison into my mother, wasn't it?! My mother was so good to you, she trusted you so much, why did you have to harm her like this?! Where did we, the Hilliard family, ever wrong you?!"
"You speak up! Why did you do this to my mom!"
"I didn't! Miss, I am truly wronged! The lady has been kind to me, how could I possibly harm her! Miss, Sir, you must find out the truth and clear my name!" Luisa's eyes were filled with tears, looking utterly innocent.
"Unfair?!" Lola's emotions reached a peak, "You said you didn't harm my mother, then why did you flee after she was harmed?! If we hadn't caught you, you would have already escaped abroad, wouldn't you?!"
Luisa still refused to admit her guilt, shaking her head like a rattle drum, "Miss, I really didn't flee out of fear of punishment. I just went out because... because something happened at home, I wanted to go back and check!"
"If you hadn't brought me back, I wouldn't have known that the lady was in trouble!"
"Sir, I served the Hilliard family for over twenty years, I was utterly loyal to the Hilliard family, you must believe me!"
Dalton gave Luisa a cold glance, his eyes gradually regaining their calm, a dead silence within them, "After Chelsea got injured, I installed a camera in the room."
Luisa's face instantly turned pale, she muttered, "Cam...camera? So...so you're saying, everything I did was recorded?!"
Seeing Luisa confess, Lola angrily grabbed her hand, "Luisa, we, the Hilliard family, have no grudges against you. I don't believe you would want to harm my mother on your own! Speak! Who instructed you to harm my mother like this!"
