Chapter 370 Kemp, I'm Dead!
Everett returned to Highburn this morning to deal with a very urgent matter.
He said that he had already started having people prepare for their wedding, and that they would get married after he returned.
He had left many bodyguards here to protect Ethan. Logically, Ethan should not have been able to be kidnapped. However, this time, it was not Kemp who kidnapped Ethan, but Ethan who quietly slipped away from the bodyguards and willingly went with him.
Ethan was really smart, just like the Spencer family, he was extraordinarily intelligent from a young age.
However, no matter how smart Ethan was, he was still just a four-year-old child. Moreover, that man was his beloved Uncle Kemp.
Uncle Kemp, who was even closer than a biological father.
His Uncle Kemp had forgotten him, hurt him, and he had told himself not to bother with Uncle Kemp anymore. Yet, he still missed his Uncle Kemp very, very much.
So, when his Uncle Kemp took the initiative to befriend him, saying he wanted to take him out to play, he naturally ran into his arms without hesitation.
The mind of a child is ultimately too innocent. Ethan had never thought that his Uncle Kemp, who rarely took the initiative to be nice to him, was not trying to play with him or wanting to return to him and Penelope, but was after his life!
Ethan was dangled over the seaside cliff by Kemp using a thick rope.
When talking on the phone with Kemp, Penelope could clearly hear the sound of waves crashing.
She also heard Ethan's voice.
Ethan shouted, he said, "Mom, don't bother me!"
Penelope's heart was torn.
She knew Ethan didn't want to drag her down, but how could she possibly ignore her most beloved treasure!
Thinking of his tiny body being hit by wave after wave, and Kemp possibly cutting the rope at any moment, his being swallowed by the rolling waves, Penelope's heart ached so much that she could hardly breathe.
Kemp said, "Today, someone must die, either her or Ethan."
Penelope wished that she was the one who had died.
Penelope, fearing she was late and Kemp would lose his patience and kill Ethan directly, didn't even have time to say goodbye to Lyman, and hurried to the seaside cliff.
She thought, perhaps it was the impending death that made one especially nostalgic for the past.
On the way, sitting in the taxi, watching the hustle and bustle outside the window, she thought a lot, a lot.
She remembered, her first meeting with Kemp.
Back then, Kemp looked extremely disheveled, covered in blood and filth. As soon as you got close, a strong stench hit your nose, so suffocating that it was almost impossible to breathe.
She didn't despise him for being dirty.
Both were destitute and displaced, but she felt an overwhelming pity for him. Thus, despite her own pain and suffering, she carefully cleaned the filth from his body. Over and over, she spoke to him, who had lost all will to live, "Kemp, stand up, survive!"
Later, Kemp stood up, living a life full of brilliance. But he, he wanted her not to survive.
Life, often times, was always this helpless and ridiculous.
She also remembered her agreement with Corona, to become in-laws through their children!
What a pity, Corona's child was gone, and she didn't even get to see her get married, have children. They were destined to be separated forever.
She also remembered, Lyman and Ethan.
They were all her relatives, also the people she worried about the most. Hopefully, they wouldn't be too upset after she left.
Ethan no longer believed that Kemp was his Uncle Kemp. He should just follow Everett and live a peaceful life.
And there was Everett...
In the end, she still let down his deep affection and expectations.
In the next life, in the next life, she would be a beast of burden, a slave, a servant, all to repay the kindness he showed in protecting Ethan and Lyman.
She still missed her parents a bit.
She hadn't yet called them "Mom" and "Dad".
I heard that Chelsea had woken up, but she couldn't move or speak, she could barely even move her fingers. Hopefully, she would recover soon.
Also, Zackary.
It didn't matter anymore.
Her Zack, had long since passed away. No matter how deeply etched their past was, he was now Lola's man.
They had already said their goodbyes long ago.
It was already late at night, the surroundings were shrouded in thick darkness. On the cliff by the sea, due to Kemp's men all carrying high-powered flashlights, the area was brightly lit, as if it were daylight.
Kemp stood at the edge of the cliff, his hands behind his back. Even without seeing his face, Penelope could imagine how ruthless and cruel it must have been at that moment.
Penelope didn't hear Ethan's voice.
Afraid that Ethan might not be able to hold on any longer and his life was in danger, Penelope rushed over in a panic. However, before she could reach the edge of the cliff, she was stopped by Kemp's bodyguards.
"Kemp, where is Ethan?! I'm here! I give you my life! Give Ethan back to me!"
"Mom, don't bother me! You better leave!"
Upon hearing Ethan's voice, Penelope's hanging heart slowly returned to its original place.
On the edge of the seaside cliff, there was a thick rope, and it was this rope that Ethan was hanging from, beneath the cliff.
At that moment, she couldn't see her Ethan, but she could imagine, waves upon waves crashing onto him, making him cold and sad.
"Kemp, hurry up and have someone pull Ethan up! It's so cold now, he won't be able to withstand it!"
Kemp didn't respond to Penelope's words. He turned around, speaking in a cold and cruel tone, "Penelope, you deserve to die!"
"Mom, hurry up and go! Mom, go quickly! He's not Uncle Kemp! He's a devil, he's not Uncle Kemp! Mom, I beg you, don't worry about me!"
Ethan's voice carried a clear sense of urgency. After he had been shouting for a while, Penelope suddenly could no longer hear his voice.
She knew, he must have fainted.
In such cold weather, having to endure the battering of the waves, Ethan, whose health was already poor, couldn't possibly withstand it!
Penelope, fearing that any further delay would cause Ethan more severe injuries, urgently addressed Kemp, "Kemp, kill me, I'll die! Please, can you hurry up and pull Ethan up?!"
"Penelope, you imprisoned me and Penny for four years! You mercilessly tortured me and Penny, you broke my leg, you stuffed live fish into Penny's mouth, you forced her to eat rotten food, you locked her in a room filled with snakes."
"You even brutally killed the child that Penny and I were about to bring into the world!"
"Penelope, you hurt Penny like that, the sins you committed, tell me, how are you going to make amends?!"
"Kemp, you killed me, don't hurt Ethan anymore! I beg you, don't hurt Ethan!"
Penelope wanted to defend herself, she wanted to tell Kemp that his memory was confused, that the person who had been with him in the dungeon, facing life and death together, was not Pennie at all. But she didn't dare to say it.
Kemp couldn't possibly believe her. Her words would only make him angrier. It was highly likely that even if she died, he wouldn't let Ethan off the hook.
