Chapter 34 He's Crazy About Penelope
Lola really didn't want to apologize to Penelope. It would prove that she admitted that she was the villain, but the look on Lyman's face at this moment was so scary that Lola's heart was pounding. When she thought of his words "or you will suffer the consequences", she was even more panicked.
Lola was a flexible person. She secretly gnashed her teeth and decided to give in for the time being.
"Penelope, I'm sorry. I apologize for what just happened." After saying this, Lola twisted her head and ran to the side, crying and calling Zackary to tell him about her grievances.
Penelope knew that Lola had apologized unwillingly, yet Penelope was overjoyed to see Lola suffer.
"Penelope, is your hand really okay? No! We have to go to the hospital."
Lyman was still uneasy about the wound on Penelope's hand. He had wanted to untie the bandages around her hand and examine it carefully, but he was afraid that his clumsiness would hurt her, so he decided to leave it to the doctor.
"Mr. Hilliard, I'm really fine. I know about my condition better than anyone else. Thank you so much. You're really a good person."
Being praised by Penelope, Lyman, who was thick-faced, blushed for the first time.
He shyly scratched his head, looking foolish. "You don't have to thank me. I just can't bear to see others bullying you."
Penelope's heart trembled. Lyman's kindness to her warmed her from the bottom of her heart. If she hadn't been sick and instead had a lot of time left, she might try to start a new relationship.
But now, she was dying, so it was meaningless to give him any hope.
She cleared her throat, intending to make it clear to Lyman. However, before she could say anything, the director's assistant rushed over.
"Mr. Reed, bad news! The dancer we originally found twisted her ankle. How are we going to shoot this major scene today?"
"What? She twisted her ankle? Why did she twist her ankle today?" Grayson Reed, the director, was also so anxious that he paced back and forth and almost dragged off his last few strands of hair.
"The set and lights are all ready. We are all waiting for her. Yet she has twisted her ankle and can't act. Does she know how much money will be wasted because of her?"
Grayson pulled his hair. "How can we find a suitable dancer in such a short time?"
When Penelope was chatting with Pamela just now, she heard Pamela talk about this scene.
It was said to be the last scene of the drama.
The female leading role was a fairy who entered the mortal world by accident, and she fell in love with the male leading role, a general who defended his family and country.
The army led by the general fell into the enemy's trap and was surrounded. In great danger, the fairy stepped on corpses and blood to save the general at the cost of her life.
After being saved by the fairy, the general led the army back and killed the enemy. He won the war and returned to the capital, while the fairy died.
Before her soul disappeared, the fairy danced for the general under the cherry trees. It was such a beautiful and tragic scene that the general couldn't forget it even when he was old.
Penelope was not an actress. She thought she had no acting skills, but she was very good at dancing.
She was not smart, and her grades at school were bad, yet she was a natural dancer. Her dance teacher once praised Penelope's flexible dance, saying that she would be promising in the future.
She didn't have any achievements, but it was not hard for her to dance on the set.
The key was that she heard that the payment was not low.
Penelope pondered for a moment and said to the director, "Mr. Reed, I can dance instead of Lola."
"What? You?"
Penelope nodded her head vigorously. "I've studied dance, so I think I can do it."
Grayson was skeptical of Penelope's words. After all, nowadays, a young girl who danced well, looked pretty, and had a backer, could just become an actress rather than an extra.
However, now the crew was in such a hurry, so Grayson could not care about that much. It was winter, and they created this scene with so many cherry trees, which cost tens of thousands of dollars every day, so the crew could not afford to delay.
Grayson patted Penelope's shoulder. "OK! If you can dance well, I'll give you 2,000 dollars."
Penelope's eyes lit up. 2,000 dollars was much more than 400 dollars, the price she had expected. She was surprised that she could earn so much money.
Grayson decided to use Penelope, and he immediately let the staff members take her to make up her face and change her clothes.
When Penelope passed by Lola, Lola was still on the phone with Zackary, her face teary. "Zackary, I'm so sad. I really don't know how I offended Penelope. I've been good to her in every way, and she always harms me.
"She even instigated Lyman to help her bully me. Today, Lyman beat me in front of so many people on the set and asked me to apologize to her. Zackary, I don't understand why she bullied me like that..."
Lola's contrived cries made Penelope want to vomit. Thankfully, she was quickly taken to the dressing room, so she didn't have to continue being disgusted by Lola.
Although she would only dance, it was the main scene, so the makeup artist carefully made up Penelope's face.
Looking at the pretty girl in the mirror, Penelope was a bit unable to recognize herself.
After she put on makeup and changed clothes, it was already more than an hour later.
This was an ancient fancy drama. She danced in a long dress with long sleeves. Penelope didn't have to worry about her severed finger affecting the scene.
After getting ready, she was brought to the forest of cherry trees that the crew had arranged overnight.
Having not danced for a long time, Penelope was slightly nervous. When she saw Lyman clenching his fists and cheering her on, she was suddenly less nervous.
She closed her eyes and thought about this poignant love story as she gradually empathized with it.
Under the cherry trees, a fairy wearing a red dress walked over elegantly.
Her sleeves swayed. The cherry blossoms fell. The long sleeves covered her fair face. She was much more attractive than the cherry blossoms.
The fairy was an imaginary creature. She was not like those self-restrained women in the human world. Her dress revealed her slender waist. She danced nimbly. When she leaped, the silver bells around her waist rang crisply. She looked so charming and gorgeous.
When Zackary came over to pick up Lola, he saw this scene. The cherry blossoms floated, and the scenery was so beautiful, but all this was eclipsed by the smiling woman with a dazzling face.
She was so stunning.
After being amazed for a while, Zackary was indescribably angry. He thought, "This woman is dancing in front of so many men. Who does she want to seduce?"
As soon as he turned his face, he saw Lyman with a face full of infatuation. When Zackary saw blood flowing out of Lyman's nose, Zackary's handsome face darkened.
