Chapter 32 I Don't Want to Humiliate Myself Anymore

Having just woken up, Penelope was still weak as hell. She didn't want to mince words in front of Zackary. She glanced at the gradually darkening sky outside the window with some fatigue and said softly, "Zack, if I say that I got my finger cut off because Lola harmed me, will you believe me?"

Thinking of Pennie ordering someone to feed her severed finger to a dog, Penelope smiled self-mockingly, "My finger was fed to a dog also because of Lola."

"Penelope, what does Lola have to do with your finger being cut off?"

Zackary's voice went cold in an instant, and the little pity in his cruel eyes vanished.

"You made Lola suffer so much, and you still dare to frame her. If you dare to do it again, I will definitely torture you to death!"

Penelope turned her face away, staring blankly at the lights outside.

She thought, "I am telling the truth, yet he doesn't believe me, so why should I waste my breath on him?

"Zack, who once whispered in my ear that he would believe me, pamper me, and love me for the rest of his life?

"These words are still fresh in my mind, but why do I feel they are from my past life?"

Penelope didn't say anything. Zackary became more irritable. He grabbed her shoulders rudely and forced her to look at him.

"Penelope, speak!"

Penelope slowly came back to her senses. She glanced at Zackary with clear sarcasm. "Zack, if you believe me, my words will be meaningful. But if not, I will only make a fool of myself by explaining to you again and again.

"I don't want to humiliate myself anymore."

Penelope was filled with indescribable sadness when she called Zackary "Zack".

She still looked dazed as if she had lost her soul. She gently shook her head. "No, you're not Zack. You're not my Zack anymore. My Zack is dead. He's dead in my heart."

"Mr. Spencer, you're Lola's man. What do you have to do with me?"

Zackary thought, "I am Lola's man?"

Seeing her so eager to cut ties with him, Zackary was unprecedentedly upset. His voice became colder and more ruthless. "Yes, I only love Lola.

"Penelope, I will marry Lola. I will make her the happiest woman in the world. As for you...

"You're nothing to me."

With those words, Zackary suddenly shook Penelope off and left without looking back.

Penelope lay helplessly on the bed. The bed and the quilt were warm, but nothing could warm her body and her heart.

Penelope thought, "I am nothing to him.

"That's quite good."

Ridiculously, she had been worried that if she died, he would be a little sad. Now it seemed that he wanted her to die immediately.

She had flattered herself.

Penelope was so tired that she didn't want to get up, but thinking about Ethan lying in the hospital bed and the 160 thousand dollars that she hadn't collected yet, she forced herself out of bed.

She hated Zackary's meddling. She didn't know how much the hospitalization was going to cost her.

Luckily, she didn't have to pay any money when she went to check out of the hospital. Zackary had already paid all the expenses in advance.

After leaving the hospital, Penelope went straight to Lust Club.

Last night, she didn't even ask for time off. She just left the private room, so she wondered if the manager was angry.

Penelope was ready for a scolding. Unexpectedly, when she went to the manager's office, she was not scolded, and the manager gave her almost 16 thousand dollars.

Seeing so much money, Penelope was stunned.

She asked the manager why. It turned out that last night, Lyman bought twenty bottles of the 1992 Lafite.

The market price of a bottle of the 1992 Lafite was usually more than 8,000 dollars, and the ones sold in Lust Club were even more expensive. They cost tens of thousands of dollars each.

Lyman bought so many bottles of the 1992 Lafite. According to the commission rate, Penelope indeed had nearly 16 thousand dollars of commission.

The manager gave her the money and fired her. Penelope wasn't upset. When she ran into Zackary last night, she knew that it would be hard for her to continue her job here.

He was always trying to cut her off financially. Even after the divorce, she couldn't escape his grasp.

Unable to continue working at Lust Club, Penelope had to find another job.

She couldn't find a job that paid her monthly. Her life wouldn't last that long. Even if it did, Zackary wouldn't let her work until payday.

In the past, even when she found a cleaning job, she would be fired the next day.

Penelope was locked up by Lola and Ralph after high school, so she couldn't do highly skilled work. She had to struggle at the bottom of the social ladder.

She thought about going to a construction site to move bricks, but considering her current condition, she might die on the site before she could earn any money. After a second thought, she changed her mind.

Coincidentally, when Penelope was working as an extra in Gogwood, she met Pamela Osborn, a very enthusiastic extra. She called Penelope and said that there would be a very good scene tomorrow that needed extras to play dead bodies. She asked if Penelope had time.

The happiest thing for extras was to play dead bodies. It didn't require any acting skills. Moreover, the crew would usually give bonuses to extras who played dead bodies to avoid bad luck.

Penelope figured out that with the bonus, she would earn at least 80 dollars for working as an extra tomorrow, so she quickly agreed.

The next day, Penelope thought that today's work would be pleasant and simple. However, after arriving at the destination, she realized that this was where Lola was working.

Before taking over the Hilliard Group, Dalton, Lola's father, was one of the best directors in the world. Lola had always had a dream of being a star. After she was found back by the Hilliard family, she entered showbiz.

With the Hilliard family's resources, it was hard for Lola not to be popular.

Sometimes, this world was so unfair. Some people struggled in showbiz for a lifetime, but they couldn't make a name for themselves. Some people had a variety of resources as soon as they entered showbiz, such as Lola. In just one year, she became an A-list actress.

Penelope's work today was to dye herself red and lie on the ground. She and many other extras would play dead bodies together. Lola, the heroine of this drama, would walk through the "blood" and heaps of "corpses" to shoot a miserable scene.

Penelope did not want to quarrel with Lola on the set. She only wanted to get money and leave.

However, Lola wasn't going to let Penelope go. Lola stepped on Penelope when she was walking through the "corpses", and the place she stepped on was the wound on Penelope's left hand.

Cold sweat broke out on Penelope's forehead because of pain. Just as she tried to pull her hand back from under Lola's foot, Lola stomped on it again.

This time, it hurt so much that Penelope couldn't even raise her hand.

Lola lowered her voice and said viciously, "Penelope, how does this feel? Is it great?"

Penelope thought, "Fuck you!"

She was so angry that she wanted to curse Lola. Yet before she could do it, the crisp sound of a slap sounded.
