Chapter 233 Mr. Zackary wreaked havoc for Penelope
Upon seeing the man with a grim expression standing at the bedroom door, Corona's body involuntarily shrank back.
She didn't know when it started, but the man she once relied on the most, only brought her hatred and fear.
Wilton, clearly sensing Corona's unease, tightened his grip on her, holding her a bit closer.
He whispered comfortingly in her ear, "Corona, don't be afraid, I'm here."
Wilton had always been sparing with his words, yet his brief remarks inexplicably calmed Corona's anxious heart.
Devon didn't know why, having already decided to give Corona to Andrew, he inexplicably rushed over again.
Seeing her now, docilely nestled in Wilton's arms, he just felt it was ironic.
It was ridiculous that he was restless for her, while she, on the other hand, was hooking up with one man after another.
Rage surged in his heart, almost ready to blast his body into ashes.
His face was gloomy, his voice as cold as if it came from a deep abyss, "Corona, you're not dead yet!"
"Devon, get out!" Penelope trembled with rage at the thought of the harm Devon had done to Corona.
Just now on the road, Zackary had found out that it was Devon who had given Corona to Andrew tonight. What's more outrageous was that tomorrow, he was going to marry her off to Andrew, just like he was marrying Corona to Joseph.
"Penelope, shut up!" Devon was already extremely annoyed, and Penelope had the audacity to yell at him, so naturally, he didn't treat her kindly.
"Bang!"
No sooner had Devon finished speaking than Zackary had already landed a hard punch on his face.
"Zackary!"
Devon covered his face, looking at Zackary in disbelief. His good brother had actually hit him in the face over a woman!
Zackary didn't feel he had done anything wrong at all. On his incomparably handsome face, there was a chilling coldness that left one breathless, "Devon, who gave you the audacity to yell at my woman!"
"Your woman?!" Devon sneered coldly, "Birds of a feather flock together. All Corona people are despicable, Penelope is as close to her as a sister, how good can she be!"
"Bang!"
Zackary landed another hard punch on Devon's face, which instantly darkened to the point where no light could be seen. "Apologize to Penelope, Devon! Otherwise, I won't let this go!"
"Apologize?! Zackary, you're dreaming!"
Zackary had said many heartless words to Penelope, but even during the period when he hated her the most, he couldn't bear anyone saying a bad word about her. Now, he was trying hard to win her back, and he couldn't stand anyone trampling on her dignity like this.
Devon's attitude towards Penelope was so bad that he simply couldn't bear it.
Among men, there wasn't much idle talk. They preferred to solve problems with their fists.
At that moment, Zackary swung his fist and aimed it at Devon.
Devon was quite skilled, but because he was somewhat distracted today, he took quite a few hits from Zackary.
Penelope really didn't like Zackary, but she had to admit, seeing him beat up Devon, it truly felt good in her heart!
Wilton actually really wanted to hit Devon, but he was more worried about Corona's injuries at the moment. He picked her up sideways and quickly rushed out of the room.
Penelope was also worried about Corona's injury. She grabbed Andrew's phone and smashed it hard against his face, then hurriedly chased after him.
Zackary saw Penelope leave and no longer wanted to fight. He threw another punch at Devon's face and hurried to chase after the girl he loved.
Andrew was already in severe pain, and after just getting hit by Penelope, he cried out in agony.
"Brother-in-law, I got beaten up so badly tonight! Brother-in-law, you must avenge me!"
Devon didn't speak immediately, he looked down at Andrew, who was curled up in the corner of the wall.
The more he looked at him, the more sleazy he seemed. The fog before his eyes gradually faded. Even if Corona's eyesight was poor, she would never be attracted to such a disgusting man.
Tonight, she was seriously injured, evidently due to her desperate struggle and resistance.
Back then, he didn't know what kind of spell he was under, to actually believe that Corona was really interested in Andrew, and even awkwardly distanced her.
Devon pressed hard against his chest, where a heart-wrenching pain resided. But he couldn't figure out why it hurt, or for whom it hurt.
Andrew's crying grew more intense. He pitifully reached out to Devon, "Brother-in-law, look at the wounds on my body! All of this is thanks to that scoundrel Corona! Brother-in-law, I've suffered so much injustice, you have to help me get justice!"
"Get lost!" Devon's mind was already in chaos, and Andrew's annoying voice only added to his irritation. He directly kicked him over, completely knocking him down, and left with long strides.
The wounds on Corona's back looked terrifying, fortunately, they didn't hit any vital areas.
Penelope was afraid that she would be in great pain, so she kept talking to her, helping her to distract her attention.
Wilton suddenly pushed open the door of the ward and walked in, in his hands, he was still holding an urn made of rosewood.
"Corona, this is, your grandmother's ashes."
Corona stared blankly at the urn in Wilton's hands, her eyes reddening in an instant.
She hadn't thought that she could allow her grandmother to return to her roots, nor had she expected that it was Wilton who brought back her grandmother's ashes.
"Corona, I asked Zackary for help, found my grandmother's location, and brought back her body. It was a bit inconvenient, so I had her cremated locally and brought back her ashes."
Wilton lied. He didn't have his subordinates transport Grandma Corona's body back, not because it was inconvenient, but because her grandmother's body had already started to decompose, infested with maggots. He was afraid that she wouldn't be able to bear seeing it.
Wilton lowered his gaze, placing a silver locket in Corona's hand, "This was found in grandma's hand, she had been clutching this silver locket."
"Grandma..."
Gripping the silver lock tightly, Corona could no longer hold back and burst into tears.
This was the silver lock she had worn as a child, and her grandmother had been waiting for her to come and collect it.
She ignored the pain in her back, tightly holding the urn in front of her. It contained her grandmother's ashes. Her grandmother seemed so close, yet she could no longer embrace her.
Seeing Corona in such pain, Penelope couldn't help but tear up.
She felt sorry for Corona, and she also missed her grandmother.
But the kind-hearted grandmother was brutally murdered by Lola and Ralph, never to return.
Zackary couldn't bear to see Penelope so upset. He knew Wilton would take good care of Corona. Holding her, he quickly walked towards the outside of the ward.
Penelope still couldn't let go of her grudge against Zackary, but he did help with Grandma Corona's matter. She fell silent for a moment, then softly spoke, "Mr. Spencer, thank you for helping with Grandma Corona's matter."
"Penelope, did you really want to thank me?"
Zackary stared intently at Penelope, "Penelope, if you really want to thank me, give me a chance, let's start over!"
