Chapter 18 Long for Fatherly Love
Zackary thought, "Pretends to have terminal gastric cancer?"
Zackary's big hand that fell on the door handle of the ward froze. He had raised his foot, yet he just couldn't step forward.
That doctor continued complaining, "I was shocked when I first saw this patient. Her mouth was full of blood. I didn't realize she had bitten through the blood bag in her mouth.
"What are young people thinking about nowadays? They are so crazy in relationships. Since they quarreled, they should have a good talk. Why is she pretending to have such a terrible disease?
"Of course, I agreed to help her. You didn't see her in the emergency room. She made a scene. She said she would kill herself if I did not help her. How dare I not help her!"
The doctor complained for a while longer before hanging up. As soon as she turned around, she saw Zackary standing in the doorway of the ward.
She put on a shocked look. "Sir... What ... are you doing here?"
"Who pretends to have terminal gastric cancer?" The expression on Zackary's face didn't change in the slightest, but in his cold eyes, there was terrifying rage.
"I..."
The doctor was so scared that she stepped back. Her eyes contained obvious nervousness and evasion. "Sir, you've misheard. I didn't say such a thing. Terminal gastric cancer isn't a good thing. How could someone pretend to have this disease?"
Zackary took a step forward.
He gripped that female doctor hard by the neck.
Before he opened his mouth to speak, his anger scared the female doctor so much that she had some difficulty breathing.
"Sir... I didn't... I really didn't..."
Zackary suddenly tightened his grip, and the female doctor stopped speaking.
She thought that Zackary was about to explode, but the next second, he suddenly smiled.
When Zackary didn't smile, he looked so intimidating, and when he smiled, it was not warm at all. Instead, it was cold and horrifying as hell.
"I'll ask you one last time. Who the hell is pretending to be sick?"
As the doctor heard Zackary's words, her legs went limp, and if he had not held her neck, she would have already collapsed to the ground.
Her body trembled violently. From his words, she felt if she continued hiding it, she would never have the chance to speak again.
"Ms. Sullivan! It's Ms. Sullivan!" the doctor struggled to say. Her neck was finally released. She opened her mouth wide and desperately drew in the fresh air.
After gasping for a while, she was able to make a sound again. "Sir, it's Ms. Sullivan. She gave me money and threatened me with suicide, so I had to help her to trick you.
"She is fine. She doesn't have terminal gastric cancer at all. She vomited blood because she bit through the blood bag in her mouth. Sir, I really didn't mean to lie to you. I was just confused. Please let me go.
"Sir, I promise I will never dare to do it again. I..."
"Get out!" Zackary grumpily interrupted the doctor. With her legs shaking violently, she stumbled into the corridor.
After a long time, Zackary let out a low laugh.
He looked icy and scary. Finally, he fell silent.
He thought, "You are even pretending to have terminal gastric cancer.
"Penelope, you're really something!
"Unfortunately, you can't afford the price of lying to me."
Penelope wasn't in her ward. She went to Ethan's ward.
After the tension between Zackary and Penelope eased, he thoughtfully transferred Ethan to the hospital where Penelope was staying.
After Ethan's car accident, Penelope had so much going on that she hadn't got time to visit him. Now that he was in this hospital, she could be with him every day.
Before Penelope went to Ethan's ward, she went to get the paternity test report.
Normally, it would take a few days for the paternity test report to come out, yet Zackary asked the hospital to expedite the process, and in less than four hours, the results of the paternity report were already out.
Looking at the four big red words on the paternity test report that the hospital had stamped, Penelope couldn't help smiling. The report showed that Zackary was Ethan's father.
Now, Zackary would not continue to believe that Ethan was a bastard. Even if she died, with Zackary's care and love, Ethan could grow up smoothly.
She had to go and tell Ethan the good news first.
Ethan was badly injured in the car accident, and after the past few days of hospitalization, he was much better.
When Penelope went over, Ethan was holding a piece of paper, frowning in thought.
Seeing Penelope, he panicked and hid the piece of paper under the covers.
Penelope's eyes were sharp. Although Ethan hid it quite quickly, she still saw a few big words written unskillfully on the paper.
It read, "What should I do if I'm hated by my dad?"
Penelope's nose twitched. She sat on the edge of the bed, gently stroking Ethan's thin face. "Ethan, your dad doesn't hate you."
"He just hates me!" He was just a child over the age of three. No matter how smart he was, it was actually hard to hide his emotions. His little face, which was always joyful, was filled with despondency. "He doesn't even allow me to call him Dad."
"Ethan, your dad really doesn't hate you. He doesn't allow you to call him Dad because he has a misunderstanding about me. He thinks you're not his child."
In the future, when she died, Ethan would have to depend on Zackary, so Penelope didn't want there to be any hard feelings between the father and son.
She held out the paternity test report to Ethan. "But it's okay now. The result of the paternity test between your father and you has come out. You are his child, and he will love you truly from now on."
"Really?" Ethan's small face showed obvious surprise. After that, he was a little bit anxious and nervous. "Mom, will Dad really like me?"
"Yes!" Penelope hugged Ethan tightly. "You're so good. No one will dislike you. Ethan, your dad loves you. From now on, you have to love your dad too, just like you love me."
"I don't want to love him. I only love you!" Ethan looked annoyed, but his big bright eyes sparkled.
Penelope knew that he loved his dad very much.
Ethan had been longing for fatherly love.
After putting Ethan to sleep, Penelope guessed that Zackary would be back soon. Clutching the paternity test report, she headed for her ward.
More and more misunderstandings had been cleared up, and in the future, it would get better.
As soon as she opened the door to her ward, Zackary leaped up from the couch like a cheetah. Before she could react, he pinned her against the wall and gripped her neck hard.
