Chapter 17 Penelope, I Won't Let You Die!

It seemed that the doctor didn't know that the man was the famous Zackary Spencer in Sea City. She was not as cautious and trembling as other doctors in front of him.

The middle-aged female doctor adjusted the rim of her glasses and said with doubt, "You don't even know that the patient has gastric cancer? Are you her family?"

Before Zackary said anything, the doctor frowned and said, "It hurts so much, and yet she doesn't take medicine. She doesn't take her health seriously at all."

Zackary's body was stiff. At this moment, he didn't know how to describe his mood.

He didn't know that Penelope had terminal gastric cancer.

But he knew one thing. It wasn't that Penelope didn't want to take medicine. He threw away her medicine, so she couldn't take any.

Zackary felt heartbroken when he thought of Penelope's desperate look as she rushed to the window to grab the medicine but failed.

He grabbed his chest but he still couldn't control the spasms due to the pain.

He never knew that a man's heart could hurt like this.

After he forced Penelope to have sex with him, Penelope vomited with blood. He thought she was dirty.

She kept saying that she was not dirty but sick.

It turned out that she was indeed sick.

"Who are you? Are you the patient's family member or not? If you are not, please find her family and ask them to spend more time with her before she dies."

"She won't die!"

Zackary suddenly became extremely agitated. He suddenly raised his head and stared at the female doctor with scarlet eyes. The doctor was so frightened that her legs weakened. She almost fell to the ground.

"I won't let her die! No one can stop me!"

The doctor took another step back to keep a relatively safe distance from Zackary. She said bravely, "Sir, please face reality. In her condition, one week's life would be a privilege. Sir, you'd think about it."

The doctor was afraid that Zackary would suddenly go crazy again. She glanced at him secretly and quickly walked to the office nearby.

Fortunately, the female doctor left in time. If she had taken a step slower, Zackary would have broken her neck to stop her talking nonsense.

Penelope once said to him, "Zack, do you know why brides like to wear a white veil on their heads when getting married?

"Because white is a pure and sacred color for marriage.

"Zack, when we get married, I will wear a white veil, and I will be your most beautiful bride. Zack, I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

Penelope promised to spend the rest of her life with him. She wouldn't leave him.

Zackary went crazy and hugged Penelope when she was just pushed out of the emergency room.

He thought, "Penelope, as long as you can survive and spend the rest of your life with me, you will always be my loved woman, no matter how ruthlessly you betray me and what heinous things you have done."

When Penelope woke up, it was the next morning.

Just like the last time when she was in a coma, Penelope always felt that a pair of warm and powerful hands was holding her hand tightly. That man called her Penelope in a gentle and tender voice over and over again.

Penelope thought she was dreaming again. Penelope didn't expect that as soon as she woke up, she saw Zackary's bloodshot eyes.

"Zack?"

Penelope looked at Zackary in disbelief. Suddenly, she lowered her eyes and laughed at herself, "I am dreaming again that my Zack is back."

"Penelope, you aren't dreaming. It's me." Zackary held Penelope's hand tighter. "Penelope, I am Zack, and I will always be your Zack."

Zackary's grip was so tight that it hurt Penelope. She realized that she wasn't dreaming.

The shock on her face became more obvious. She wanted to ask him why he became so strange, but he said in a hoarse voice, "Penelope, why didn't you tell me that you were sick? Why did you keep me in the dark when you got that damn disease?"

Penelope's eyelids twitched. She knew that Zackary knew about her terminal gastric cancer.

"Zack, I told you this before, but you didn't believe me."

After he heard Penelope's words, Zackary's body trembled. He suddenly remembered that she once asked him to borrow money for Ethan's surgery and told him about her illness.

What did he say back then?

Zackary said he wished she was dead.

When he said that, Zackary felt extremely happy. Now he only felt the sharp pain as if his heart was taken out.

Zackary couldn't control his feelings anymore. He used all his strength to hold Penelope in his arms.

He murmured repeatedly, "Penelope, you won't die! You won't! We'll spend the rest of our lives together!"

"Zack..." Penelope also hugged Zackary very tightly. In the last moments of her life, Penelope was more than happy that Zackary was willing to accept her in his heart. For her, Zackary's love was a surprise beyond her expectations.

"Penelope, I'm here..."

Nestling in his arms and feeling his strong heartbeat, Penelope felt contented more than ever.

She wanted to take this chance to let Zackary accept Ethan.

"Zack, I didn't lie to you. Ethan is your son. Can you please do a paternity test with Ethan? As long as you do it, you will know that I didn't betray you back then and I didn't kill our child."

Zackary's eyes darkened. The scene of Penelope and Ralph making love on the bed would always be a thorn in his heart. But now, he was willing to believe whatever she said.

"Okay. I'll do the paternity test with that bas... with Ethan."

Seeing that he agreed, Penelope was immediately overjoyed. "Zack, after you confirm that Ethan is your son, can you lend me the money for his surgery? Without the surgery, Ethan won't live long. Please save Ethan!"

"Penelope, I promise you. As long as you can survive, I will even give my life to you."

Zackary gently pecked kisses on Penelope's lips. His kisses were gentle and full of love as if she were the most precious existence to him.

After Lola was pregnant with his child, Zackary forced Penelope to divorce him. Penelope still felt a little sad when thinking of the thing.

But she was dying. She didn't dare to expect too much. She could be with Zackary until the end of her life. Zackary was willing to lend money for Ethan's surgery and raise Ethan up. This was a great surprise for her.

Zackary wanted to stay with Penelope all the time, but Lola had a high fever and passed out after her wound was seriously infected. Since Lola's condition was critical, Zackary had to go there.

Zackary asked the doctor to take good care of Penelope and went to the hospital where Lola was.

Lola was in critical condition. It took nearly five hours of the surgery in the emergency room before she was out of danger.

Zackary was worried about Penelope. He absentmindedly said a few words to Lola and then hurried back.

He was about to walk into Penelope's ward when he heard the doctor talking on the phone in the corridor.

"Well, this patient is so strange. Why does she have to pretend to have terminal gastric cancer? This is the first time I have met such a strange patient."
