Chapter 146 Mr. Spencer, Please Respect Yourself!
"Mr. Spencer, please respect yourself!"
Penelope instinctively wanted to break free from Zackary's grip, but when she struggled, he not only didn't let her go, but also tightened his grip on her wrist even more.
"Penelope, you were still alive!"
Zackary's voice was filled with the anger of being deceived, the fear of gain and loss, and an indescribable pain. Thousands of emotions intertwined, making his voice tremble slightly.
Penelope had no leisure to deal with his complex emotions. She slightly hooked the corner of her lips, carrying an unreachable alienation.
"Yes, I'm still alive! I didn't manage to reincarnate as you wished, Mr. Spencer, I really let you down!"
"Penelope!" In Zackary's eyes, a flash of crimson spread instantly, a glaring red that seemed to want to transform into sharp blades, to tear open Penelope's heart, so he could see for himself, just how heartless this woman was!
The smile still lingered on Penelope's lips, unable to free her hands, she no longer insisted.
Zackary was holding her left hand. Although the injury on her wrist had healed, it had damaged her hand muscles, reducing her hand strength. Therefore, she didn't want to waste her energy with him.
She lowered her eyebrows slightly, her face brightened with a radiant smile, yet the light in her eyes grew even colder.
"What, Mr. Spencer, are you holding onto me because you want to personally send me to reincarnation? I'm sorry, Mr. Spencer, I have no plans to reincarnate yet, I'm afraid it would be a waste of your good intentions!"
Having been deceived by Penelope's feigned death for so long, Zackary was already filled with anger. Now, with her every word laced with barbs, his rage was uncontrollable.
He had already forgotten about Lola's existence. He took a step forward and forcefully pushed her against the wall beside them.
"Penelope, I wouldn't personally send you to reincarnate, for fear of dirtying my hands!"
"Huh!" Penelope chuckled softly, they were disgusted by her dirtiness again!
But Zack, the once Penelope, was already dead, died in that big fire. The current Penelope, is now invulnerable, you can't hurt her that easily anymore!
"Mr. Spencer, since you're so afraid of me dirtying my hands, why are you still clinging to me? Are you, looking for trouble for no reason?"
"Penelope!" Zackary abruptly let go of Penelope's hand, rudely seizing her chin.
This woman always had the ability to drive him crazy.
She died, and he was in such pain that he wished to die. When she was alive, however, she infuriated him to the point of feeling like he was being tormented between life and death.
But he, he was hoping that she was alive.
Penelope truly found Zackary to be quite unoriginal. In his anger, he would either grip her chin or choke her neck, always shouting her name in a fit of rage.
For his unoriginal behavior, Penelope couldn't even bother to respond. She just raised her eyebrows and continued to laugh.
Mingming, it was a laugh filled with mockery, but paired with this naturally charming face, it still had a somewhat enticing flavor.
Because he was holding her chin, her mouth couldn't close. Her two bright red lips trembled, moving like flower petals gently swaying, swaying right into the depths of Zackary's heart.
He missed Penelope.
As if possessed, he leaned forward, his lips inching closer and closer to Penelope's.
Seeing this scene, Lola's face turned the color of a pig's liver with hatred. She pinched her palm hard, forcing herself not to break down and go crazy.
"Zackary!" Seeing Zackary's lips about to touch Penelope's, Lola could no longer suppress the hatred in her heart. She tightly hugged his arm, trying to shake him awake.
Hearing Lola's voice, Zackary jolted awake, and seeing Penelope's lips so close to his, he couldn't help but curse under his breath.
He would absolutely not be bewitched by this fickle woman again. Her schemes were far more numerous than he had imagined. He would not fall into her trap!
"Zackary, the audition is about to start, will you accompany me to change clothes?"
Lola had said something in a soft, delicate voice, but Zackary hadn't really heard her. His gaze, as if bewitched, was glued to Penelope's face the entire time.
Until Lola's coquettish voice rang out again, "Zackary, is it okay?"
He merely responded with a noncommittal, "Hmm."
Zackary and Lola finally left, and Penelope felt that the air around her was somewhat fresher at last.
Watching Lola's swaying figure, Penelope couldn't help but clench her fists.
Although Ethan survived, he was seriously injured from falling off a cliff.
Changing the medicine over and over again, undergoing surgery over and over again, that kind of pain, like being skinned and boned, plus the tragic death of Corona, the tragic death of grandma, one by one, she would get them all back from Lola!
Also, that big fire...
Penelope didn't know why Lola insisted on setting a fire on the day of her engagement with Zackary, but with a little thought, she knew that she was inextricably linked to that fire!
She and Lola were sworn enemies for generations, destined for only one to prosper.
And she wanted those she cared about the most to be well, no longer hurt by Lola. Therefore, Lola must never be able to rise again!
Penelope gently touched the phone in her handbag.
She had always wanted to tell Lyman the truth, but she could no longer reach him.
She heard Xavier say that Lyman thought she was dead. After holding her funeral, he went to Africa, exiling himself. Now, even his old man Dalton couldn't get in touch with him.
But even if she couldn't reach Lyman, she would find a way to expose Lola's fake phoenix identity, making her completely lose the protection of the Hilliard family!
Penelope didn't want to entangle with Zackary anymore. Only after she roughly estimated that Lola had changed into her audition clothes, did she go to the cloakroom to change her clothes.
Before the audition, another batch of people who had signed up for the audition were eliminated. By the afternoon, including her, only fifteen were left to audition.
Lola was second to last, closing the show.
As for her being last, it was purely because she was added to the list later.
Penelope had looked over the script she was supposed to perform again.
She thought that the person who designed this script had a really twisted mind.
Just swing on the swing, why do you have to do it barefoot!
Could it be, we were comparing whose feet smelled worse?
For TV dramas and movie auditions, the auditioning actors had to take turns and enter the stage individually.
This kind of endorsement was not as mysterious as TV drama or movie auditions, because it didn't require much acting skills.
The auditionees were allowed to enter together and appreciate the performances of their competitors.
Penelope didn't want to rush in and smell the stinky feet, but seeing that everyone else had gone in, she would seem very impolite if she alone didn't go in and wait. So, she still took her script and found a seat in the last row to sit down.
Penelope had just sat down when a man in a high-end, hand-tailored black suit walked in.
She was busy reading the audition script, giving him only a casual glance at the time. Little did she know, he would entwine with her for half of her life, becoming a significant part of her life.
Everett Murray.
