Chapter 11 Chop Her Hands Off
When Lola came near, she saw Penelope lying on the ground, covered with wounds and blood. Penelope had clearly been harshly beaten just now.
Lola was pleased with the scene before her. She looked down at Penelope and asked in a domineering voice, "Are you happy about what Zackary did to you?"
It wasn't until Penelope heard Lola's words that she realized the pain she had suffered was nothing. Her heart could ache even more.
All her pain came from Zackary.
Penelope could only console herself with the fact.
Lola was not angry at Penelope's silence. She crouched down and sneered, "Do you think that's all? No, Zackary wants you to suffer more."
As Lola spoke, she took a knife from a bodyguard next to her.
Looking at the knife that gleamed coldly, Penelope could no longer maintain her composure.
She asked in astonishment, "Lola, what are you going to do?"
Lola shook her head with a wicked smile. "Penelope, you shouldn't ask me that question. Don't you understand? I did what Zackary told me to do. He asks me to chop your hands off."
Penelope struggled to her feet and shook her head violently. She didn't believe Lola's words and shouted, "It's impossible! Zack won't be that cruel to me!"
Even though Zackary had put her in prison and asked others to beat her, Penelope didn't believe that he would ask Lola to chop her hands off.
Lola showed the knife in her hand. "You don't believe me, do you? Look, Zackary said you would only hurt others with your hands. It's better to chop them off."
After that, she wore a gloomy face and said to the bodyguards beside her coldly, "Hold her down! I'll help Zackary chop her hands off right now."
"Let go of me!" Penelope, not wishing to be hurt by Lola at will, struggled to free herself. However, she was no match to the professional bodyguards at strength at all.
In an instant, she was forced to the ground, unable to move.
"Let go of me! Lola is the real killer. She killed my grandmother and wanted to hurt Mrs. Hilliard. She is the one who needs to pay the price. You can't chop my hands off!"
Lola spoke casually with a long voice, "Why can't I? Zackary loves me, and I can do whatever I please."
Then, she slashed the knife fiercely at Penelope's hands with all her strength.
Surprisingly, there came a huge sound.
Zackary kicked the sharp knife away before it could touch Penelope's hands.
"Zackary?" Lola had not anticipated Zachary's sudden arrival.
She immediately suppressed her panic and said with tearful eyes, "Zackary, what makes you here? Don't get me wrong. I'm not a malicious woman. I'm so sad and angry at the thought of my mom's condition that I want to kill myself. It's all my fault."
"Lola, I will never consider you malicious. I don't want you to do anything bad."
Zackary bent down to pick up the knife on the ground. He looked elegant as well as aloof.
"I'll cut her hands off by myself."
Penelope felt such pain that she clutched her chest.
She stared at Zackary with watery eyes, recalling something from the past.
She couldn't help thinking that when they were madly in love, she had accidentally pierced her finger with a needle while mending his school uniform.
Back then, he applied medicine to her injured finger and kept asking her if it hurt. He threw away her sewing kit and told her not to touch it again.
Penelope dismissed him as overreacting and said she was fine.
However, Zackary said he would never allow anyone or anything to hurt Penelope anymore with a serious face.
It had been years since then.
It turned out that the person who hurt her the most at last was Zackary himself.
