Chapter 181 Mr. Spencer Cooked for Penelope

"Penelope!"

Zackary had never expected that Penelope would suddenly fall to the ground. He quickly stepped forward, pulling her forcefully into his arms. It was then that he noticed her ankle, horribly red and swollen.

She endured with all her might, but because the pain was too intense, the rims of her eyes still turned red.

Originally, Zackary could be cold and hard towards her. But now, looking at her red-rimmed eyes, her ankles that were even redder than her eyes, and the shocking wounds on the back of her hand, he could no longer be harsh with her.

No matter how vicious, selfish, or shameless she was, she was now just a casualty.

Zackary kept telling himself that he was being nice to her not because he cared about her, but because he hated seeing women hurt and pitiful.

"Mr. Spencer, let me go!" Penelope instinctively tried to break free from his embrace.

Last night, for her, was the most humiliating mistake, she really didn't want to degrade herself by letting him patronize her.

"Penelope, if you ever dare to get hurt again, I won't spare you!"

Penelope had thought that Zackary was going to continue to be aggressive towards her when he threw her back onto the couch. Unexpectedly, he rummaged through a shopping bag nearby and pulled out a bottle of iodine. He disinfected her wounds and then found some hemostatic medicine, which he applied to her wounds bit by bit with a cotton swab.

"Mr. Spencer, I don't need your kindness, I can apply the medicine myself!" Penelope refused Zackary's help, speaking in a cold voice.

"Penelope, with your left hand nearly rotting away, can you even treat yourself?!" Without waiting for a response, Zackary grabbed her hand and continued to apply the medicine.

After treating her wounds, Zackary showed no intention of leaving. Just as Penelope was about to coldly dismiss him, his voice suddenly rang out awkwardly, "Penelope, haven't you had breakfast yet?!"

Zackary's thoughts were jumping too fast, and for a moment, Penelope had a bit of trouble keeping up.

She also didn't understand why he suddenly asked her this question.

Could it be, he wanted to have dinner with her?

She would rather die than have dinner with him!

Penelope didn't speak, Zackary's face fell, but considering she was injured, he asked again, "Penelope, you're hungry, aren't you?!"

"I'm not hungry!" Penelope paused, then continued, "Mr. Spencer, if you're hungry, you can go out to eat. I don't provide meals here!"

"Penelope, you're hungry!" Zackary stared intently at Penelope, suddenly speaking up, "Penelope, eat!"

At that moment, Penelope noticed that there was actually a wooden food box beside Zackary.

A man of cold temperament and unparalleled handsomeness, with a rather large food box beside him, this scene, inexplicably brought some sense of humor.

Penelope really didn't know what Zackary was up to this time, but whatever he wanted to do, she couldn't be bothered to play along.

"Mr. Spencer, I think I've made myself quite clear, I'm not hungry! You're not welcome here, please leave!"

When Penelope said this, she slightly lifted her chin, acting both haughty and aloof. However, her stomach completely ruined her aloof demeanor. Because, as soon as her words fell, her stomach started to rumble joyfully.

Penelope was so embarrassed.

Listening to the call that was so familiar it couldn't be more so, the corners of Zackary's lips, which were always tightly pursed, couldn't help but lift.

He didn't speak, but the expression on his face clearly said, "Penelope, you lied! You were obviously hungry!"

Penelope really wanted to crawl into a hole.

Zackary opened the lunch box and placed all the food inside on the dining table in the living room.

Four dishes and a soup, all were the few home-cooked dishes that Penelope loved the most when their affection was at its peak.

Sweet and sour fish, stir-fried bamboo shoots, cola chicken wings...

Looking at the food on the table, Penelope's eyes, once again uncontrollably, welled up with tears.

She couldn't help but recall, during the time when she and Zackary were deeply in love, she would always get hungry easily in the morning. Waiting to eat out after washing up, she often felt uncomfortably hungry.

Later, she hadn't gotten up yet, but Zackary had already prepared the meals.

She opened her eyes, and could start by drinking a bowl of soup, warming her stomach, an indescribable comfort.

In fact, Zackary initially didn't know how to cook. The first time he tried, he almost burned down the kitchen. But he said he was willing to get covered in kitchen fumes for her. After several attempts, his cooking skills improved significantly. He was smart and had a particularly strong learning ability. Eventually, he was not far off from the chefs in the hotels.

With teary eyes, Penelope looked at the somewhat blurry man in front of her. Was he, slapping her, then giving her a sweet date?

Unfortunately, she, Penelope, didn't buy into this!

She could never forget how cruel he had been to Ethan and Corona!

Moreover, people always change. Once, these dishes were her favorite. But after spending four years in the dungeon, these meals became the nightmare of her life.

"Penelope, eat!"

Zackary picked up a piece of fish and placed it on the plate in front of Penelope.

For some unknown reason, seeing Penelope so thin made Zackary feel uncomfortable all over.

Whenever he got angry, he especially wanted to serve her food.

So, a small mountain quickly piled up in the plate in front of Penelope.

Penelope stared blankly at the deboned fish in the plate, as painful, dirty, unbearable memories flooded into her mind like a tide.

After she was locked in the dungeon, Lola had forced her to eat fish.

Lola said, "Sister, don't you love eating fish? Don't you love it when Zack cooks fish for you? Well, today, I'm going to let you eat your fill!"

Lola forced her to eat raw fish.

The fish, with its strong fishy smell, was forcefully stuffed into her mouth. Those people, gripping her chin, relentlessly shoved it into her mouth.

She hated that taste, her throat ached as if it was rotting, but they were unwilling to let her go.

She didn't know if it was a fish scale or a fish bone that had scratched her throat, but she was in so much pain for a long time that she dared not speak.

Afterwards, she never dared to eat fish again.

The moment she saw the fish, she couldn't help but feel her mouth filled with that disgusting fishy taste again, making her wish she could live no more, yet unable to die.

She also didn't want to eat stir-fried bamboo shoots anymore.

The spoiled bamboo shoots were forcibly stuffed into her mouth. When she couldn't swallow, they used a stick to pound the bamboo shoots down her throat.

In the end, she still couldn't swallow, but because her mouth and throat were full of wounds, she spat out a mouthful of blood.

Seeing Zackary put a piece of cola chicken wing on her plate, Penelope could no longer hold back. She abruptly turned her face, leaned over the trash can, and vomited until the world spun around her.

The most painful experience she didn't want to live through was being forced to eat chicken wings.

The rotten, foul-smelling chicken wing was forcefully shoved into her mouth. She tried to swallow, but couldn't. She tried to vomit, but couldn't. The bone from the chicken wing was lodged in her throat. The taste was so unbearable that she wished she could die.

Zackary didn't know about Penelope's painful past, he only knew that he had kindly made breakfast for her, even painstakingly picked out the fish bones for her, and she had actually thrown up!

No matter how much Zackary tried to please her, she found him disgusting, didn't she?!
