Chapter 6

Brandon Mitchell walked in, surprised to see Jessica alone with a scalpel.

"You're just a nurse. Do you have the right to perform surgery?"

Jessica ignored him, instead seeking praise: "Brandon Mitchell, I've solved a big problem for you. Don't I deserve some compliments?"

"What big problem?"

Jessica pointed at me and smirked: "This woman tried to seduce you, but don't worry, I've taken care of her."

Brandon Mitchell was momentarily stunned: "What?"

Jessica clung to Brandon Mitchell's arm and said sweetly: "You're not mad, are you? Even though she was your first love, I'm your girlfriend now. You can't side with her."

"Otherwise, I won't talk to you ever again."

Brandon Mitchell was enveloped in a chill, his voice impatient: "I told you, you're my first love. Why don't you believe me?"

Jessica pouted, unhappy: "You're lying to me. What man waits until he's nearly 30 for his first love?"

My older son was telling the truth. I was strict with him from a young age. He's disciplined, and once he decided to become a doctor, he focused entirely on his studies, leaving no time for romance.

Otherwise, he wouldn't be so naive and easily deceived by someone as duplicitous as Jessica.

Seeing Brandon Mitchell silent, Jessica sulked:

"You lied to me! I saw the illegitimate child your first love bore for you."

"Brandon Mitchell, you bastard, you even lied to me!"

Brandon Mitchell's pupils contracted, uncertainly asking again: "What did you say? What illegitimate child?"

I finally gathered some strength, raising my hand to catch Brandon Mitchell's attention.

But Jessica noticed first.

She quickly stepped to the operating table and slapped me several times in front of Brandon Mitchell.

"You wretch, it's all your fault that I'm estranged from Brandon Mitchell!"

Brandon Mitchell stepped in to stop Jessica, his voice laced with anger: "Stop it. I told you my first love is you, and there's no illegitimate child."

"If you keep hitting her and something happens, it'll be a medical accident!"

He wanted to check my injuries.

Suddenly, his expression changed.

"Are the injuries on her body from you?"

Jessica disdainfully glanced at me lying on the operating table like a dead fish: "She deserved it!"

She clung to Brandon Mitchell's arm again, whining: "Brandon Mitchell, you'll handle this for me, right?"

"You love me so much, you wouldn't want me to go to jail, right?"

"Later, we'll just say this woman came to the hospital already injured, and give her family some compensation."

"These mistresses are all after money anyway."

Jessica spoke more freely, her words increasingly excessive, completely ignoring the growing darkness on Brandon Mitchell's face.

I've taught him from a young age to be upright and honest.

Sure enough, the next second, he interrupted Jessica: "Tell me the truth. Are the injuries on her body your doing?"

Jessica was stunned, then her eyes filled with tears: "Brandon Mitchell, I'm your girlfriend. We've been dating for a year, and you say this to me..."

Brandon Mitchell was a bit annoyed but still calmly said:

"Go out first. Let me check her injuries."

Jessica reluctantly walked out.

Then, Brandon Mitchell called her back.

Jessica turned back happily, only to hear Brandon Mitchell say: "Let Dr. Brown in. She's covered in blood; it looks serious."

My face was slashed in several places, making me unrecognizable.

Covered in bruises, Brandon Mitchell didn't connect the pitiful person on the operating table with his mother.

Jessica left in a huff, but soon another doctor came in.

Dr. Brown cleaned my facial wounds while defending Jessica:

"Jessica went too far this time, but she's just a young girl. She only did something this extreme because she's afraid of losing you."

Brandon Mitchell's expression was dark, remaining silent.

Suddenly, he saw my face after it was cleaned.

His whole body started trembling.
