Chapter 5
Jessica stood stunned for a moment before responding calmly:
"It's me and Dr. Zhang, Brandon. There's no other operating room available?"
I lay on the operating table, wanting to scream.
But as soon as I tried to open my mouth, the pain pulled at my facial muscles, and the cuts on my face hurt so much I didn't dare move.
Brandon Mitchell replied, "It's nothing, just a routine check."
When facing Brandon Mitchell, Jessica was completely different from the arrogant way she acted towards me. She explained in a sweet voice, ending with:
"Wait for me after work tonight, take me shopping."
"Sure, I need to buy an Ultraman as a gift too."
Though I couldn't see Brandon Mitchell's expression, I knew he was smiling.
A few days ago, my son had clung to Brandon Mitchell's arm, acting cute, saying he was about to turn 7 and was a big kid now, wanting a big kid's gift.
Brandon Mitchell nodded, lightly poking his forehead, asking what he wanted.
With great enthusiasm, my son said he wanted a Tiga Ultraman.
A tear slid down my cheek.
In just a few days, my son had left us.
The two brothers were always so close. I couldn't imagine how heartbroken Brandon Mitchell would be when he found out about his brother's death.
I was lost in my grief, so I missed the malicious look in Jessica's eyes when she heard Brandon Mitchell talk about buying an Ultraman as a gift that evening.
Brandon Mitchell left.
He had no idea that just a wall away, his mother was enduring inhumane abuse from his girlfriend.
Jessica's eyes turned cold, "I didn't expect you to be more manipulative than I thought."
"You even managed to make Brandon Mitchell openly talk about buying a gift for an illegitimate child right in front of me."
"Luckily, that bastard is already dead."
"Otherwise, I can't imagine how hard it would be for me with him between us."
She gritted her teeth, then seemed to think of something.
She stared intently at my lower body.
Murmuring, "I must eliminate future threats."
"Killing one bastard isn't enough. What if you sneak another one in when I'm not looking?"
She seemed to sink into her own world, muttering to herself in a crazed state:
"Yeah, I'm so smart, I need to eliminate future threats."
"Killing one bastard isn't enough. I need to kill this cheap woman too."
"No, if I kill someone, how can I marry into the Mitchell family with a clean slate?"
Even at this point, she was still thinking about marrying into the Mitchell family.
But as long as I had a breath left, even if I had to cut ties with Brandon Mitchell, I would never allow her to marry into the Mitchell family!
"But I just need to sew her mouth shut."
"I can't just get rid of one illegitimate child. What if you secretly have another one?"
She was lost in her own thoughts, talking to herself with a hint of madness:
"Yes, I'm clever. I need to eliminate the problem completely."
"Just killing one illegitimate child isn't enough. I need to get rid of this woman too."
"No, wait. How can I marry into the Mitchell family if I commit murder?"
Even in this situation, she was thinking about marrying into the Mitchell family.
But as long as I am alive, even if it means breaking ties with Brandon Mitchell, I will never let her marry into the Mitchell family!
"But I just need to sew her mouth shut."
"You're so clever. No wonder Brandon Mitchell loves you."
Jessica Mitchell blushed shyly, then gave a thumbs-up before glaring at me and approaching.
I was already too weak to resist, lying naked and bound to the operating table.
Still, I tried to appeal to her conscience: "Jessica, stop. I'm not the mistress. I'm Brandon Mitchell's real mother. Let me go... Ah!..."
Jessica immediately pierced me with a needle...
The pain was so intense with each stitch that my scalp went numb, and I couldn't even muster the strength to scream.
"Now, no more illegitimate children will be born."
"Brandon Mitchell will be mine forever."
"And in the future, the Mitchell family fortune and this hospital will belong to my son."
"Hahahahahahaha!"
Just then, there was a frantic knock at the door:
"Jessica, who's having surgery in there?"
"I just ran into Dr. Brown outside. He said he wasn't performing any surgery."
"Who are you with in there?"
Seeing Jessica not responding, Brandon Mitchell got anxious.
'Bang!'
The door to the operating room flew open.
