Chapter 8

The people present looked at each other in confusion, all panicking for a moment.

Of course, Lucas didn't come alone. He was followed by many men in black suits, each looking like a trained fighter.

Seeing this scene, those kidnappers all fled in fear.

Leaving Zoe trembling on the spot.

"Luke, let me explain."

She watched Lucas approaching, cold sweat breaking out on her forehead.

Lucas hated being deceived more than anything in his life, let alone being played by the woman beside him.

"What do you want to explain? Pretending to be innocent and kind to win my favor? Or secretly leaking Sinclair Group's confidential information to the Parker family? Or knowing Ava was seriously ill but hiding it from me?"

He spoke word by word about Zoe's actions over the years, his eyes red and full of disgust.

Zoe's whole body trembled, tears welling up in her eyes, trying to soften Lucas's heart.

"Luke, I did all this because I love you. I really love you. It was all for you."

Unfortunately, Lucas chose to ignore her completely.

"Don't say these high-sounding words. Your love makes me sick!"

"I could have had a happy family. It's all your fault, making me misunderstand Ava. I couldn't even see her for the last time."

"Ava died in pain, you won't be better off either."

With that, he waved his hand.

The bodyguards behind him all came forward, pinning Zoe firmly to the ground.

"The scar on Ava's right shoulder was because of you. What right did you have to act like a savior?"

"Weren't you not afraid of death? Then I'll grant your wish."

Lucas, like a madman, took out a knife from somewhere and approached Zoe step by step.

Sensing his actions, Zoe struggled desperately.

"No, Luke, don't do this to me."

She kept shaking her head, but in front of the enraged Lucas, everything was in vain.

I watched with my own eyes as Lucas gripped the knife and stabbed it through Zoe's right shoulder, blood flowing freely.

Zoe's heart-wrenching screams echoed through the empty warehouse.

When she suggested cutting off my mother's medical expenses, did she ever think about today?

Zoe was already in so much pain that she was delirious. She saw the hatred in Lucas's eyes and knew that all her schemes had completely failed.

She might as well go all out now.

Tears streaming down her face, she screamed hysterically like a madwoman.

"Lucas Sinclair, you think you're so innocent?"

"Ava actually told you many times that she wasn't feeling well, but what were you doing? You were traveling with me."

"She called you so many times on the day she died, what were you doing? You were so disgusted, you called her a harbinger of death, haha, a harbinger of death."

"When she was dying on the hospital bed, you were planning my candlelight dinner."

"Even if I suggested stopping that old woman's medical expenses, you agreed to it."

"It's because you're stupid, you were willing to believe me!"

She screamed herself hoarse, saying many things.

Every sentence was like a sharp knife, stabbing into Lucas's heart.

Lucas was obviously hit where it hurt, his eyes turning fierce.

He gripped the knife in his hand even tighter, anger had blinded his eyes.

He stabbed Zoe's shoulder again, and if it weren't for the people around him holding him back, he might have killed Zoe on the spot.

"You're right, we're both villains."

As he said this, the knife in his hand fell to the ground.

I coldly watched the two of them fighting like dogs. Even if they were cut into a thousand pieces, it wouldn't ease the hatred in my heart.

Zoe was locked in a dark basement, with only some porridge to keep her alive each day.

No one treated the wound on her shoulder, and it had started to rot and stink.

At first, she would scream for help, but there was no one around, no one would respond to her.

The quiet despair tormented her, leaving her with nowhere to turn.

Who says there's no empathy, this might be how I felt after death.

When she suggested cutting off my mother's medical expenses, I was just as desperate.

When Lucas came to the basement again, Zoe had already gone mad.

She didn't even have the strength to beg for mercy, she could only lie on the ground, her eyes lifeless.

"Zoe Parker, weren't you not afraid of death? Weren't you willing to sacrifice for the person I love?"

"Now I'm going to fulfill your wish."

He spoke casually, as if talking about something trivial.

Finally, he set fire to the place, and the entire basement was engulfed in raging flames.

Zoe's screams were piercing and harsh, truly worse than the howling of ghosts and wolves.

But this wasn't the end. Zoe didn't die.

With severe burns all over her body, she was kept by Lucas in a private care facility.

Her body constantly scabbing over and tearing open, she would have to consciously feel this pain for the rest of her life.

I witnessed everything and anticipated this outcome.

Seeing this as karma, I felt my soul become lighter.
