Chapter 7

For several days in a row, Lucas had been accompanying Zoe to choose wedding dresses, as if completely forgetting the drama from a few days ago.

They went to that same bridal shop again, after all, there was no reason to change to another store when Sinclair's fashion brand was the industry leader.

"Mr. Sinclair, please accept our condolences." It was the same shop assistant, her tone sorrowful.

Lucas couldn't help but flinch, looking up at the shop assistant.

"You know she's dead too?"

The shop assistant took out her phone and opened the account that posted the cancer documentary.

The pinned post was my obituary.

"My mother also died of cancer. Before she died, she was in so much pain she begged me to let her die."

"Miss Bennett was already a very strong patient, it's a pity heaven had no eyes."

Her words were pointed, almost making Zoe break her nails.

"I think some people deserved to die. Luke, hurry up and pay so we can leave. Talking about a dead person all the time, it's unlucky."

She was becoming more and more unrestrained, no longer hiding her sharp and mean nature.

Lucas's fist at his side clenched tightly, his eyes looking at Zoe with a hint of resentment.

But he still took out his credit card and handed it to the shop assistant.

A moment later, the shop assistant informed them of some news.

Mr. Sinclair had already issued a statement, removing Lucas from all his positions and freezing all his assets.

"I'm sorry, this card can't be used now, and Mr. Sinclair has said that from now on, you two are to be turned away whenever you're seen."

"I don't know who deserves to die, I only know that scumbags and homewreckers will never have a good ending."

Zoe was about to lose her temper, but Lucas grabbed her hand and led her away from there.

His face had been completely disgraced.

Watching this ridiculous scene, even my dead heart felt some satisfaction.

As long as they weren't doing well, I felt better.

But this was just the beginning.

As long as Zoe didn't marry Lucas, the stone in her heart couldn't be put down.

The Parker family was a den of wolves and tigers. Although we all grew up together, she was just a nobody in the Parker family.

It's thanks to my becoming a soul after death that I accidentally overheard many of her secrets.

All of Zoe's schemes were at her father's request, with the purpose of bringing down the Sinclair family.

Now that the Sinclair father and son were estranged and the stock was in turmoil, it was exactly what Mr. Parker wanted to see.

But now she had greater ambitions, wanting to use Lucas to break free from the Parker family.

Her way out was to marry Lucas, and if she didn't succeed, the Parker family wouldn't want her either.

She tried to visit Mr. Sinclair in the hospital, but was mercilessly turned away.

She even heard rumors that Mr. Sinclair had met with Lucas's cousin, showing signs of giving up on Lucas.

Zoe couldn't help but feel anxious.

But once she resorted to desperate measures, her doom would also arrive.

That day, she sneaked out of the house, and before she got far, Lucas secretly followed her.

Of course, I was drawn along by Lucas to witness a good show.

In an abandoned factory on the outskirts, Zoe was plotting something with several people.

I floated in and saw several familiar faces.

They were actually the same people who had kidnapped us years ago.

"I want you to kidnap Lucas Sinclair, just like you kidnapped Ava Bennett back then. I don't believe he won't care about his own son's life. If it succeeds, it's still five million, which will be transferred to your account."

Zoe was dressed exquisitely, completely out of place here.

"Miss Parker, five million isn't enough for us brothers to risk our lives. Mr. Sinclair is different from Miss Bennett back then."

"We want ten million."

The kidnappers opened their mouths wide, starting to negotiate terms with Zoe.

I watched all this, my eyes glancing towards Lucas hiding in the shadows nearby.

His expression was complex, filled with regret and anger.

Zoe hadn't noticed at all, cursing the men for being too greedy, but she still nodded reluctantly.

"Fine, as long as I become Mrs. Sinclair, CEO's wife, ten million it is."

At this point, everything was clear.

No wonder out of two kidnapped people, why Zoe could come out unharmed.

She put on an act of righteousness, but it turns out it was all a self-directed show.

And the beginning of everything was actually based on a scam.

Lucas couldn't hold back anymore. He walked out from the shadows, his voice full of anger.

"I never knew kidnapping me only cost ten million."

"Zoe Parker, you've really opened my eyes."
